Goodness - compare that to the photo somone posted early of mounds of boxes of choccies, were you supposed to get the same as them?

I think I'd be ringing and  if you ordered the same thing!
  • Mine has just arrived :j
Virtually identical to JodyBPM above except only one of my festive figures was broken ;) My hamper was present to the family and was supposed to be a surprise tomorrow - ruined by dh answering door and the big sticker on it saying Thornton's Winter Wonderland Hamper! ;) Good excuse to start eating it now:)
    Merry Christmas!

Btw hope you get a free hamper Claire21 - you've saved me a fortune this year! :T

  • Mine just arrived - exact same contents as thegreenroom. I'm glad some people got something very close to Wonderland hampers - we didn't. What a huge disappointment. The retail price of the contents is £76 but I'm really struggling to accept they're worth even the £28 delivered I've paid.

I think the person who suggested Thorntons have used us to clear stock is probably right. Or maybe they've had poor sales this Xmas cos their prices are so high, & they deliberately created this glitch so we'd all rush in & they'd hit their corporate sales target. Either way, I think they've deliberately used MSE.

I'm gutted - I've just received the same as thegreenroom and WP. I can't give this stuff as presents. Thorntons can have them back.

I received one lot of this for what was meant to be the Family Share Hamper, on offer at £17.50 when I bought it, although only 4 of the items matched what was meant to be in the hamper I ordered. I have had more than enough hassle with Thorntons this Christmas so I just decided to accept it, but I hope they get their act together next year.

    Merry Christmas everyone.
  • Could someone confirm where we stand on this - I've been delivered something I didn't order & don't want, does that mean I have a right to ask Thorntons to collect at their expense?

I know a lot of people will receive these & keep them cos it's Xmas & who has time for the hassle of calling up & arranging pick-up / returning them? I think that's what they're banking on. MSE'ers receiving this sub-standard selection have been had - tricked into handing over around £30 we wouldn't otherwise have spent. The only effective way to respond is to make this cost them - so, personally, I want uplift, at their expense.

What are our rights here - & how long do we have to respond after delivery - can we wait a few days (get Xmas over!) before calling them?

WP - yes, under distance selling regulations you have the right to ask them to collect at their expense and you can do it now - you don't have to wait a few days. I'm certainly not keeping what they've sent me, even though it now means a chocolate-free Christmas. Will probably do the waistline good! :)

I think this is a really rubbish selection - doesn't look like much in there that you could as presents.

If I'd have received that, it would have been going right back!

I can't believe it was so different to what I (and others) have received!

I think Thorntons have really messed people about this year - they could at least have told people in advance what they were sending and given them the option to cancel. Substituting one or two items is fair enough, but substituting the whole lot without communicating is poor, imo.

That's exactly the same list of contents that people were reporting on HUKD a couple of days ago.

This is why I was so annoyed with Thorntons for sending out such shoddy 'corporate' replacements for the Winter Wonderland Hamper. The substitute is not in any way remotely equivalent.

Some people seem to have been taking the view that we should all be deeply grateful for whatever scraps Thorntons decieded to throw in our direction because they needn't have honoured the supposed 'glitch'. Do they not realise that Thorntons are making money out of selling such rubbish.

It is very unfair on people like thegreenroom who need a gift for their family and now don't have time to source anything else :(
