    Hi PAP,

Have you thought about swapping RAC for a cheaper option? Autoaid is good if you can cover the bill from savings, but if not, why not look at Autonational. Costs £66 for 15 months if you take up all options and currently TBC are offering cashback. Compared to £120 for RAC for the year (at your £10 per month), would save you a bit. I got my mum and dad on it, no problems.

Thanks Katsu, I will be changing it, I am unsure why I purchased it at that price  But I think I am in a contract until May/June time. I shall dig out all the paperwork in the week but I will be changing to something much cheaper as soon as I can. Will look into your options when i come to renew it, many thanks :)

Hi Pap, if you are feeling brave you could always go to the shops an hour before closing on Christmas Eve, dinner will be whatever is left, it will all be slashed in price, you may do really well - but it is a risk..................

Thanks Tootallulah, if it were just for me and Mum I would do it just for a laugh but I feel whatever we do for xmas will be wrong. As it is I won't be going out xmas eve anyways, its my first xmas eve off in 7 years so I am spending it at home. Didn't manage to get boxing day off but 2/3 isn't bad :T

Whatever you do wont be wrong.Fact.
If however your 'guests' dont like it well that is not yoour problem.Fact.
It is normal practice if you are invited to share someones Christmas lunch to offer to make a contribution.
If your guests havent done so then please dont feel that you cant ask for a contribution.
ie I will take either a stater or a sweet.

  • Thanks Beanie, I think we are getting a carving type joint and make a roast but not as fancy as usual. We have asked lil bro for a donation but unsure if it will be forthcoming or not we shall see :o We don't do starter's, we just have a main and a pud of christmas pudding, then we have xmas cake in the evening.

The shuffle chrager didn't work but a new one is being sent out :T I was given £50 when Mum got payed and I used that to send ebay parcels (£7) filled up my car (£28) and then I bought all my special xmas cards except one (£9) and bought some tea for me and Mum yesterday after a 9hr shift (£6).

I have also recieved another £75 from Mum today, I have used £5.20 on my first costa in ages, plus its my first xmas costa of the year, going to limit it to a max of 3 this year. I also spent £5 on grocerys mainly beans, bread, soup and drinks. I will be putting asside £15 for our hair cuts, both mine and Mum's hair is awful. Mine was last cut about 7months ago so it really needs it and for that price I don't mind paying for both. Finally I spent £7 on more ebay parcels :o

So I have £40 left in my purse until payday :D As you should have guessed I also sold quite a few bits on ebay. Before postage I have total sales of £62.20, I am awaiting one payment and have one item to send (£3). I also have an item being collected this week for £10 :D

I have already ordered one item from ebay for Mum for xmas (£2.95) and payed my ebay fees (£6.37) so I have £38.93 in my paypal account to use for presents. Anything left to get I will purchase on payday but I am getting things is order of need and then others will come after.

    Slowly, slowly, plodding along :T
  • MIA for a few weeks, mainly beacuse have just been lurking and hiding :rotfl:

So the spends of above ~ £38.93 paypal, used £16.21 on three more gifts for Mum. The remaining £22.72 my brother used for a pizza and gave me the cash, I then lent this to Mum :o
~ £40.00 cash, used another £6.xx on postage I then purchased some food from Aldi £17.xx and with the remaining £15.xx I purchased my second Costa of christmas.

It has now been payday :j My car has petrol, I think it was a little shocked to be honest. After bills above and £28.xx to savings I had quite a bit left, I was very shocked but as it was a five 'week' month thats where the extra came from. I have managed to finish all my christmas shopping and after picking up/paying for my last one on Tuesday I have quite a bit left.

So being a good mse I am going to spend a bit but try and leave a lot in my account. I need new trainers, I only have one pair that I use while driving but these have split so I will be buying a pair tonight. I have also just won a fish tank on ebay :o This along with the tickets i brought the other month will be my birthday gift to myself :) However I will not be going mad, I want to keep some shrimp, set up costs is about £30 the shrimp are £8 but running costs is only £5 a month max!

I have also have to put asside £10 for the first to weeks in Jan £5 challenge. My week will start on Sunday so the 1st is my first week :T As you can see below I have already added the first £15 to my £1 a day fund because I don't get payed until the 15th so that is going well.

I have a feeling 2012 is going to be a frugal yet exciting year

  • Thanks guys, feeling really postitive if I am honest :j

So I was naughty and spent an extra £20 on one gift and £10 extra on someone else. However as I had a little extra I think it was justified. Plus the people they are going to really helped me in the past year and I would class them as my adoptive grandparents so it's fine :)

I also spent £50 on my birthday gift  That includes tank etc I just need some plants and gravel (approx £15) and then the animals. Ok so it was more than I wanted but its still less than I spent on myself last year :D I have also been very good and only had one more Costa which makes my total of three but the last one was payed in points.

So after bills etc I have £10 in my current account but Mum owes me £25. So thats £35, I should hopefully be getting some money from Mum off her debt when she gets payed next week so plenty enough for fuel (although still have a full tank), one childs birthday gift (£15) and a Costa on my birthday. I have also payed another £8.05 to savings :j

So all in all a good payday. Next payday I need to get Mum's birthday gift and start putting asside a lot for my tax/insurance deposit... more on that to come :rotfl:

Have a great christmas readers and remember its not all about the money/gifts its about spending time with loved ones :santa2:
