Agree with Beanie re the card for emergencies, you never know when one might crop up so best to keep one for peace of mind I think
  • I don't have any now Beanie. My credit card was closed in September and this is a store card which I no longer want/need.I will see how I go Jan-Mar and if I can put away a largeish sum I wonlt bother anyways :)
  • So everything has gone from my accounts and I have £5.46 left in there until payday :o My whole paycheck gone in 4 days

So I did use the petrol money for gifts got my brother OH and my brother birthday gifts, my sisters christmas gift, my mum a christmas gift and two secondhand tshirts for me. I now have about £10 in my purse but I need to send two items and then the remaining is mine :T

I do have to order a new shuffle charger (lost mine) but I have some pennies floating in my paypal account to cover that but ebay seems to be down  Need to start thinking about goals/bounderies for the new year now. It looks like I may have £25 a month for me which I want to spend wisely :D Shall think on it....
  • So after sending the items I had £8.xx left, the pennies went in my pig so I had £8 left. So I spent on a real luxury, Charlene first album, in CD! I always use downloads now because of a storage issue, I last bought myself an album prob in 2000, maybe even 1999 :rotfl: Its weird having music on a disc :o I wasn't going to buy it on release day and wait until payday but I had too :D So £8 cash and £1.99 from my card :o Itunes was £7.99 anyways so only paid £2 extra to have it and play it now (awaiting charger, see below) :j

So penny's stand at... £3.47 in my bank and £1.97 in paypal. I needed a new lead for my shuffle 99p, and an aux lead to use it in my car 99p and I also won some quilling paper/books. It was free with a magazine this/last month but I begruded paying £6.99 just for the free gift, so won it for £2.71 inc p&p, much better.

So next year... so close  At the moment I have a few ideas... £5 a week challenge? One luxury a month on payday? Second hand clothes only (except underwear), except these arn't my vice? £10 a month only on craft items? £1 a day to savings? All of the above lol :rotfl: Anyone seen any good new year challanges on here?
  • Mini update, of sorts...

The charger thingie I purchased on ebay was the wrong one :o It would appear that I have a 3rd gen shuffle not a 1st gen as I thought, so I needed to order a different lead. That was £3.37 on Amazon, so I now only have £1.97 in my paypal account. Used my car once this week and have about 80miles left in her but will put some petrol in her on Friday when Mum gives me some money.

Christmas is still going well, just need 4 more definate gifts. I have ordered one more from Avon and then its just bits for Mum but I will figure that out in December. Problem being we will be feeding 4 extra people this year, which is a shock as me and Mum were going to have something random to save cash. I have no idea how we are now funding dinner, another thing to think about :(

Never mind life could be a lot worse :D

Thanks beanie but everyone wants a roast :o I am thinking however a £10 joint thing from Iceland/Mozzies and then cheapo roasts etc. I can't see the children eating it anyways so that would work out not too bad. Will prob get fizzy pop etc in Aldi because its only 39p for 2l :rotfl: Don't really want to spend more than £20 to feed and have soft drinks for 7 of us. If they want wine/beer they will have to bring it themselves, I will buy some shlor for Mum and me but I won't be sharing

Could you get them to chip in?

  • Well I am hoping they may but I am not holding my breath. We shall see nearer the time :D

    Really HUGE post, my appologies....

So a strange post today, I have just been playing with my budgets and stuff and basically thinking about next year. I don't think I will be able to pay for my car insurance out right which I hoped for unless I get a second job/new job (still looking) before Feb. So I will have to pay that monthly :( So I used 'listen to the taxman' and its has calculated my deductions, it looks like I will be taking home £633.18 a month. My outgoings* are £458.00 so that leaves £175.18 for anything extra including car stuffs/phone credit/extra food/fat club/loan overpayments/saves. Obviously in May that will reduce to £100 left over as I am guessing my insurance will be in the region of £75.

    *SOA
    £160.00 ~ Rent
    £10.50 ~ House Insurance
    £35.00 ~ BT
    £22.50 ~ Dog Insurance
    £140.00 ~ Loan
    £80.00 ~ petrol
    £10.00 ~ RAC

The reason for this post was a very early new year resolutions/goals for next year. After putting those fun challenges the other day I have thought of nothing since so my plans are...

    1) Save £1 a day for xmas gifts, If I stop on the 1/12/12 that would leave me £336 to spend on gifts. I have only spent/spending £150 this year so having the extra would be great. Its roughly £31 from my excess each month which still leaves me £69 excess.

    2) £5 spends per week only, thats £20 a month which leaves £49 excess. This has to include mags/clothes/toiletries/downloads/crafts/treats/car stuff etc.

The remaining £49 I plan to save for my car stuffs mainly tax/repairs/mot. But beacuse of my savings account I will be able to access my £1 a day savings just incase of anything major need doing.

So from the 15th Jan my budget will look like...
    £160.00 ~ Rent
    £10.50 ~ House Insurance
    £35.00 ~ BT
    £22.50 ~ Dog Insurance
    £140.00 ~ Loan
    £80.00 ~ petrol
    £10.00 ~ RAC
    £31.00 ~ £1 a day savings
    £20/25 ~ Weekly spends
    £49.00 ~ Saves

I am also going to see about setting up a Folksy account to sell some of my quilling designs/creations. Seems silling making these things and leaving them in a drawer. If I can try and offset some of my costs through selling some items I will be happy. I know I tried this once before (cards) and failed but we shall see. I also have all my veg to plant this year to se if I can get anything from my plots this year. I don't really want to buy anything more for the garden so I hope with just a bit more soil I can offset our grocery budget somehow.

Finally I want to set up a 101 things to do in 1001days that Em has on her diary just seems silly that I am plodding along and donlt seem to have anything to do and certainly don't have anyone to do it with. So I will set up three lists I think (not necc on that site) one of free things, one of low cost things and one of costly things. If I can do some/all of them I will be happy.

Firstly I have to get through December and use my pay wisely... But feel much more happier to get that out there and have a direction for next year and a way to use my pay and save at the same time.

Have a great Sunday evening all, oh and I have listed a few things on ebay. Two of which are rare items and usually sell for £25+, fingers crossed :)
