Tomorrow should be a real blast! Don't think DH's frail uncle will be coming over tomorrow which I feel awful about.

Slight change of plan... am back home... dropped the dog, presents, food etc off with DB & SIL, then went to the flat, where the key promtly broke in the lock  I had a premonition it would... anyway, managed to get it out, so there are no security problems, but can't get into the flat. Decided not to stay where my parents are (friends house) although I might tomorrow, so went to DB for supper then came home. Not being in OH's flat I think has made me miss him more :(. I've told him what's happened, so he knows to get a spare key cut asap as there is currently only one. I'm going to see whether I can get one cut from the bits on Sunday so I can get in there and drop some stuff off. I'm glad I live close enough to be able to come home. And it did give me an excuse not to drink much.

Just a quick update, all three bedrooms reconfigured, took a lot of time. effort and energy but we all pitched in and did it.

4 HUGE bags for charity shop and tons and tons of rubbish binned.
Congratulations! That's a fantastic achievement. Do you feel more positive about the house now you've made all the changes?

Triker - envious of that turkey! We are on the emergency frozen Aldi wonder that I bought when the weather started to turn, adequate if cooked well. I bet yours is superb. *dribbles*
I'm sure you'll manage to have a delicious meal... it sounds as if you and the boys have made plenty of cakes/chocolates/desserts to compensate, and you don't have MIL ;). Well done for making contingency plans, so you do at least have something to eat - unlike OH's ex who doesn't keep much food in the house and normally shops every couple of days... and ran out of food on Monday, so he (when he was snowed in there after his accident) had to walk 5 miles over fields and 5 miles back to stock up... hopefully they'll get out tomorrow so he can have christmas with his kids at his parents.

Greenbee I think you're right, just ate one and it felt greasy on the outside and the dark chocolates have less of it. Puppies are such a tie but if you have people to help they are such a joy too.... I have to stop myself getting one all the time
You should be able to use the chocolate for cooking then. Separate any pure chocolate from filled stuff. You may have to be creative with the latter but any pure chocolate can be retempered. The dog thing is a very tentative thought at the moment. I think I'd have to move for it to work, and I'd have to time it so that I got it at the right time - I'd need it to be down to two meals a day and able to stay on its own most of the day before the main travel season starts at work. And help will only really be possible if I do move.

    Happy christmas everyone :)

Turkey crown now wrapped readyfor tomorrow, as is the cola ham (I reduced some of the cola juice with some brown sugar and honey, sticky but nomnomnom!!!! For whoever was asking about it I do it similar to nigella's but always put cloves in the cola too. DP went to the petrol station so I have lemonade :D all presents wrapped/built/set up before 3am which is a first for us especially (DP wasn't in until about midnight, having so much food prep done too.... It's all ready to be cooked now. Must convert/find timings for 1.6kg beef as had to use the bathroom scaled to weigh (same as I did with the turkey crown) I made some 'crackers' with the turkey leg meat after I deboned it, must get some sharper knives!

Anyway I best get to bed, unsure what time the boys will emerge as it was 11.30 before they slept

Hope you all have an amazing wonderful day, shall raise a glass to you all. Speci hugs for those missing a loved one too xx
One day I might be more organised...........
