Me too... one of my friends had the bright idea this year of doing everything in gift bags... she claims its more eco friendly as the bags can be reused :D

Great idea and worth the extra cost. I'll research some suppliers and look into this.

The LR of Doom is lots better! Just one more hotspot to clear, then some dusting and hoovering before decorations can come down. Tea will be a take-away, I think. It's going to be a long night...

Now, do I put the plastic tree up, or not bother this year? I guess I'll see how much more I can do with what I've got without putting it up. I have LOTS of lights :D

I had you down as a natural tree person  Forget the tree and put up lots of lights :xmastree:

Have realised I've not had 1 present delivered, but it's only a small gift voucher for DH for one of his lycra places. I will wrap him an IOU.

I shall try to remove that picture from my mind, but it may take a while :o

DD's quilt is nearly done  What's left can be done on my knee and the sewing machine, rather than bending over it on the floor :)

Sitting down with cup of tea and a mince pie; pasta sauce from the freezer is in the rayburn; DH and DS have decorated the house beautifully with greenery from the garden; a few more jobs to do, then we'll open the wine

    Hi everyone,
Had quite a productive day today, even though I seemed to miss all the HHCs! Kids have mucked in and helped too which was lovely of them.
I have a question; does anyone know what the tubes, filled with water, with fish floating in them, that you plug in and they light up and make bubbles are called? My neice's one in her sensory room is broken beyond repair and my sis. has asked me to look for one, and I can't put my finger on what they are called.... an neither could she. Anyone help?
The other thing I need a few opinions on, as I know there are a few runners on FL: I am thinking of running the Edinburgh Marathon to raise money to help buy equipment for my wee neice. My sister did it last year, and she says "never ever again" but I know I am starting from a better point than she was at the time ie. she is very sleep deprived because her daughter has complex special needs. I did the fundraise website for her last year, but I would like to do more, and wondered if running the marathon is a realistic expectation. I do not want to run it past my sister, and raise her hopes. I'd like to make the decision, work towards it, and then reveal all nearer the time so she/I can work up sponsorship provided I'm in the shape to go through with it. Because of that, I can't ask her advice. (which I normally would) I'm in reasonable shape as I ice skate a lot, but running is a completely different sport. Really would appreciate any suggestions anyone has.

    Evening all

Mudders, hope the DIY nose job sorts itself out quickly and that DH gets over his chest infection in time to cook Christmas dinner for you!

Lamewolf - please explain - just how CAN you almost forget about blackberry vodka? Can't compute...

Hugs to all the poorlies. I have to say, Arnica cream really is the dog's unmentionables. My thigh and hip have hardly grumbled today and the beautiful blue bruise from the dead leg, whilst still beautifully blue, doesn't really hurt at all. It is a must for anyone's first aid drawer.

Decided to brave chavda this evening after work (I decided I couldn't cope with Mr T - its location is really bad with respect to commuter traffic) for the last few bits. I was very pleasantly surprised - it was quieter than I've ever seen it. Managed to get everything I needed so that's all the shopping done.

Got home to discover it has been a two egg day! I've been getting a steady supply of one egg most days since the first one on 8th December. Today, there was the usual one inside the nesting area and another lying on top of the coop itself. Clearly the first one from a novice layer. But it's exciting. The others will follow suit I'm sure...

DiL has just dropped off the turkey. The chap who drives a park and ride bus for her office raises turkeys on the side so she's bought me one for Christmas. It's 131b and enormously plump breasted.... I now need to go and sort out the fridges to find space for it. The veg can go in the little shed outside I think - it'll be cold enough....though we are fortunate, most of our snow has gone, though it's bitterly cold today.

    A lava lamp?

Had a lovely day out in Edinburgh today. Just back with a nice cuppa and some rhubarb on the hob to stew :D
