All kids presents wrapped which is always a good feeling. Will do the adult ones in the next few days.
Need to go and get DH and the younger ones from the station at some point, trains delayed so no idea when. Think I'll do a HHC in the kitchen so I've at least done some flying today. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Helen jelly, awww big hugs to you on the skid and boo to that nasty person. It really shakes you up when that happens doesn't it. I had an accident back in June and felt really sick and shaky for about 6 hours after and kept crying.
Mumto5, oh my word, you've done a proper job there haven't you. Take it easy and let the others do stuff for you.
Pigpen, brrrrr, no heating and hot water. I feel for you. Not having much luck with it are you. Have you got any nice cosy knitted blankets you can all wrap around yourselves until it gets fixed? Are you fully recovered now?
Greenbee, just wanted to send you big hugs for all the carp you're going through.
Soappie, hope you're OK and not too bruised. I'm fed up with the ice now - almost tripped up when I was walking up to the church lunch carrying a mandarin cheesecake so that would have been interesting!
Penpen, are you recovered too now? There's so many nasty bugs around.
Sockdrawer, - oh no, -17 . You'd better use that new wool to knit a big warm jumper for you and DH! What will you use the wool for? I'm just rediscovering knitting and am making a merino scarf for DH for Christmas.
Maxonian, if you're a grumpy old woman then I definitely am too!
GTG as DH hovering as wants the Mac. I've done some flying but not as much as I probably should have done but been having a nice time playing with the kids which to me is more important(that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!)

I'm just grateful we have electricity, gas and coal in. Poor people in a village near us had their newly renovated house struck by lightning during the last snow storms (when we had thunder and lightning) It blew all the electricity sockets in the house into the middle of the room, fried and catapulted the fuse box across the house, and put out most of the village. The electricity board are having to dig up the roads in order to replace all the melted wiring up to the village junction box. The side of the house where the electricity struck moved six inches, and the house has been condemned. Thank goodness they were not inside it when it happened. I thought you were relatively safe indoors. How on earth do you protect yourself from that!
I am going to re-discover my inner Fair-Isle knitter.Bought some lovely Rowan Felted Tweed. It's what my everlasting jumper/tunic is knitted in. I've not knitted Fair Isle for years, (made some bonnets etc for DD1 20 odd years ago) but fancy a go at making a beret type hat. It's lovely wool, and a short project, unlike the everlasting jumper which is gorgeous but huge! May also make some gloves to go with them. Merino is a lovely wool to work with. I made my sister a merino scarf last year for her birthday. So soft and warm. DH (who knows about these things) says it's one of the main wools they use in thermals. Pic when you're finished? xx
Saving up £25000/£3500 by Jan 1st 2012 by selling my clutter. Remember I'm doing it for Dad.
Textiles, languages, travel and a lovely home are not stupid things to want. You have immediate family's support.Appreciate what I've achieved so far. Other people's opinion of me is none of my business.0 -
Oh well, shall try the various treatments one by one (so as to not mix chemicals) - thanks for advice!
Back from seeing a new dentist. She is referring DD for orthodontics (after ticking her off for not brushing enough). Sounds promising, she says it's the same one that does her teeth (displaying a full set of braces). Something to blame DD's father for, as he has crowded teeth and protruding molars.
Mind you, I then got told that the previous dentist had overlooked a nasty case of peridontal disease in one side of my mouth. And that the symptoms I had described were such that they should have treated it on the NHS and not refused to do anything unless I went private, as it wasn't a cosmetic procedure and I had told them I was taking medication which had probably made it worse.
So, tomorrow afternoon, I shall be having the first session of root planing, to be followed up on my birthday, and if unsuccessful, to be followed up by a specialist.
Been given a special mouthwash. Dragons, banshees and barracudas, that stuff's powerful! My mouth is on fire!
Made the hallway look a bit nicer though by adding a rug and moving a CD shelf thingy to stand by the front door to hold keys, a tough pot plant, etc.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

I have gone off you, and Mrs B
Ouch JoJo - sounds painful and expensive
DHs presents wrapped, and the boys have wrapped some of their stuff too. More mess has been generated by others than cleared by me again today which is just infuriating.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -

Thanks for all the posts - I'm much calmer now
Pigpen - oh no, do you have insurance to cover it - I had the same prob this year and my water company who I have water insurance thingy with fixed it that day - hope its fixed for you tomorrow at the latest, can you play the sympathy card cos of little ones and the baby?
Soappie - that sounds quite painful, ice pack, pain killers and a stiff dram [if no pain killers] hugs, Radio Lady needs to take the hint - I can't abide other peoples music!
Mumof2 - sounds like you had a lovely afternoon with the children, all mine do at the moment is fight hehe
Dad is now havinga blood transfusion as he is aneamic[sp?] aswell as an unidentified infection, jaundice and kidney/liver probs [they can't decide which!!] There is a big meeting about him on Thursday to review all scans, tests etc - just hope we can have him home for some of Xmas Day if poss as he wants to see the kiddies then.
Weather here is horrible, very cold, slush and snow all around with the occassional bit of white stuff falling - fed up with it now and I've not had to suffer as some of you have!

Beginning to feel like I'm getting somewhere with the house and I've found the bottom of the ironing basket for the first time in weeks :T
Just got to make the last minute food presents with DD1 and do some wrapping on behalf of the big man with a beard.
Cabin fever has set in big time with my girls as we are trapped by the snow/ice and DH is thoroughly fed up of the chaos on the rail network.
Never mind at least I've got all my presents and I can walk to the shops if necessary though don't fancy it with my 2 year old in tow. DH can walk to the station so hasn't got to take enforced holiday days.
Hugs to all who need them.

Well, between yesterday and today have blitzed the kitchen and bathroom, scrubbed the oven, sorted out the freezer and done the food shop, just need bread and milk at end of the week. All presents bought and wrapped, stockings sorted and last of the cards hand delivered. Beds stripped and remade, OH has done the living room, hall and stairs today, kids bedrooms passable...phew, just in time to go back to work tomorrow!RIP Iain
