Morning all, Yule Greetings to you all.

    So far, TD on.

Chickens fed and warm water put out for them.
    Coffee drank.
    Cat fed.

Looks like bin lorry here, hooray, at last its been many weeks.

Think I'll make a start on my roasts for saturday. Also I'm in the mood for a really crispy bacon butty, nomnomnom....**wanders off to kitchen**

  • Could it be that your header tank is frozen/stopcock has been knocked off - that is what caused the same problem for me last year (the later)

PenPen - can I make any log a yule log?

Just had the emergency plumber (aka DH :p ) on the phone, and that's what we think it is, too - one of those possibilitlies :) Unfortunately, our header tak=nk is very high, and I'm not :o so the Emergency Plumber will come home early and sort it.

We take a regular log and wrap holly, ivy and other greenery around it, and possibly tinsel and ribbon :) That sits in the hearth until we're ready to burn (after removing anything artificial).

    Another HHC, then HHDaughter-organising :p

In my HHC I have started in the kitchen - tidying, aweeping and mopping floor, but now find I have nothing coming from my hot taps  Anyone any idea what I should do, or where I should look for a frozen pipe?
I see your emergency plumber has already worked this one out (as has Dusty :)) so I'll leave you to it....
Good morning everyone, it's really cold here today. The radiators at the front of the house i.e. kitchen, living room and main bedroom have not come on today as they seem to be frozen. I'm just hope the pipes don't burst.
Have the rest of the radiators come on? Its unlikely that they're frozen if the rest of the system is working OK, but do some searches online and try asking a question on the heating thread. If they are frozen, you need to thaw things out very slowly and carefully to avoid burst pipes.

Been to the post office, and swept snow off the car. It looks as if we MIGHT be having a bit of a thaw, so fingers crossed it stays that way and doesn't decide to freeze the melted stuff later. I need to dig the snow off the drive later so I can get to reflexology tonight.Work call now, then I'm supposed to be working on something with ex-OH... but he hasn't seen fit to confirm the meeting details yet

Thanks greenbee. All the other rads have come on and I have hot water in the taps. The radiators that have not come on are all on a north facing wall. This is the only wall that does not have any cavity wall insulation in it as it is stone faced and they weren't able to do it. Also it was -16 deg at 9am, it has warmed up slightly as it's now -10.5
I've tried to get hold of a plumber but with no joy - not surprisingly they are all rushed off their feet.
I've tried bleeding the rads but nothing has happened.
I'm not sure what else to do now except wait and see if they come on.

    xx
