Morning all!
Blimey it's cold out there! The ice was about half an inch thick on my car this morning. I normally walk to work but had to drive in today as I have to run some errands for my boss. Quite glad I did as the second I stepped out my car I slipped! Would have been quite a trecherous walk into work I think.
Had a blizzard last night although it didn't settle. There was a little bit of snow on the ground this morning but we're expected to have heavy snow tonight and tomorrow, although I'll believe it when I see it! Cynic that I am!
I have my work Christmas do tonight. We're finishing work early (well same time for me, early for most of the others) and then having a few drinks in our office before going out for a curry and comedy night. Should be good fun, won't be staying out too late though as am up early tomorrow for a 'family day' weather permitting.
Happy Birthday Bargain Bird, hope you have a great day.
Have a great day everyone and keep warm!0 -
Happy birthday Bargainbird-- i rang my father at home this morning because its his birthday too--he is 83 and a bit under the weather.-sun and hard frost in bournemouth.
İ am stuck at home today waiting for the television service men to install my new Baby'--paid too much for it and will regret it on interest free for the next 15 months!-Everything you buy here is delivered to your home and installed by the manufacturers --they will put it up on the wall and program it to my required 'picture'--i have to do no diy in this country and i am becoming more helpless as time passes with technology--Mrs De is a master with computers and can hack anyone!!
İ am getting into the swing of xmas with all your parties happening--thanks! -it makes me miss being there a little but it will pass.
İ hope these men come soon because my DD has now come home from school and we fight over the computer! she starts school at 7,30am and finishes at 12,30 with no breaks--i didnt know she came home at this time so its a revelation and explains why my pc is always left on when i get home at night!--i must beat her mercislessly(joke)mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
Good morning
Cold and frosty here. Had to go down to town early as was booked for a routine mammogram. Managed to walk all the way down safely but then slipped on ice just before the clinic so have a bruised bottom and have jarred my right shoulder. The mammogram was very uncomfortable-they are bad enough anyway but it was worse as my shoulder was hurting.
Afterwards I went to Tesco. They had rib of beef half-price on the butchers counter so got a nice joint for Christmas eve and a piece of pork loin-also half-price-for new years day.I bought the cream for Christmas too as it was in date and who knows what the weather will be like next week. There's only going to be three of us on Christmas day and Boxing day as DD1 is coming here for Christmas eve then going to her in-laws on Christmas morning so we are having duck breasts on Christmas day. DD2 doesn't like turkey and Dh isn't too keen on it.0 -

I'm up hideously late, as... i have tonsilitis! why nowww? the first free day i have with lots of things i need to do, and i feel like death warmed up- not even warmed up because it's gone cold again and my fingers are tingling as i type! Haven't had it in 5/6 months so I was overdue a bit of pain!
Still, need to pick up a parcel today, found out yesterday they left a card just for me but it also includes a parcel for my flatmate which is his GF's xmas present so he needs it before he goes home tomorrow! Then buy a few presents, getting my aunt and sister's b'day presents for jan/feb from work before i leave and lose my staff discount

Happy Birthday Bargainbird- have a great day.
Another one not sleeping too great, not that I ever do really.Think we must all have too much on our minds.I was back in town before the shops opening,to change a pair of pants I got DS1.The label inside didnt match the size tag ,so were too tight.Mind you it did make me laugh cos he thought he'd suddenly put loads of weight on.The legs were so tight I could see a visible knicker lineTook them back, seems most of them were wrong so I got a refund and went elsewhere. He just managed to try the new ones before he had to go out,but isn't sure he likes them .They'll have to do because he needs them for a wedding tomorrow, and I aint going again.DH and DSons are so busy at the moment, working late etc.hard to fit stuff in.
I want to bake my mince pies today, and freeze them-I may leave a few out :rotfl:I have to freeze them or there won't be any left for next week.
Shin beef stew in the slow cooker for tea, will do some dumplings later too, stick to your ribs grub for the freezing weather.
Bye for now, have a hug if you need one,and hope the snotties get better quick :)x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
