The tip thing runs throughout all the areas of the US I've been to (NY, Washington DC, several areas of Texas, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Miami etc) and it's a real pain in the....
However, custom or not, if I get really lousy service I don't tip at all. A tip in my view is something you give to recognise good service.....0 -

Still you'll probably be better off paying for the upgrade considering the prices of wedding dresses!
I've just had a look and the Penthouse Suite at the Bellagio, for a week in June (when we go) is a mind boggling $4,578 !!! about £2500......
All donations greatly received!0 -
Ive stayed at the mirage and circus circus. I would recommend the mirage definately. Its in the centre of the strip and the theme is polynesian. It has dolphins you can spend swim with (for an extra charge) and white tigers in its own zoo. Buy your show tickets on the day at the half price booths located in the shopping mall and on the strip itself. Take a helicopter night flight over the strip., its not expensive and worth the experience And dont forget the camera and camcorder.0

I don't want to make you sick but priceline (or similar - i can't remember the details) recently had a glitch where they were selling the Bellagio penthouse for something like £200 a night instead of what it actually should cost! I'm not positive they'd have honoured the booking (and how embarrassing would that be on your honeymoon!) but keeping an eye out seems to be the thing to do.
I use http://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php to keep an eye on deals (but there are a few websites to go) if it's any help.
£2500 for a nice place to 'sleep'...hmmm....not sure I could manage it. Maybe you should take some friends with you split the price0 -
Thanks for the link to the forum.... looks good - will have a good look through at the weekend...
Sleeping?! It's a honeymoon remember.....0 -
My business colleague just returned from Vegas a few days ago. He originally booked a spa suite.
At check in he flashed a $100 bill, and asked for any upgrades to Penthouse Suite. Was told no can do, but was offered one of the high roller suites instead. Needless to say, this wasn't over the weekend, and the pics of the suite are just amazing!!

A lot of people have had their say about Vegas this is mine after coming home today via BMI Manchester - LV.
We took the advice about taking a taxi from the airport to the hotel - only problem is everyone else did the same - long 30 minute queue whilst shuttle buses were nearly empty!
We were staying (with the kids!!) at Circus Circus - long queue for check in at least 30 minutes - check in lobby is poorly lit and looks dingy but we were only there the once. We got a room on 7th floor (we had requested a low floor) but no view of the strip (this was of no importance to us) no problems with the lifts at all.
We stayed Tuesday to Tuesday and obviously it was much busier at the weekends but bearable.
We ate at the Buffet, Casino Cafe (old Pink Pony?) and had a meal at the Steak house - the food at the Steak house was great but it was very dark in there. No complaints either about the former two.
We played the tables and slots a bit but of course lost in the end. Having the kids there probably saved us a fortune as we were unable to gamble 24/7!
Very few tables (Blackjack, roulette and Craps) were open midweek - no real bother as there are hundreds of other casinos to choose from.
Don't believe anyone that says you can't walk the length of the strip - we did it twice! (4 1/2 miles)and the Deuce bus for either $2 a trip or $5 unlimited for 24 hours were great value.
Only ventured out of town once to the Hoover dam - it's blooming high looking down if you suffer from vertigo!! Came back of course via Ethel M chocolate factory and the cactus garden and this was disapointing - a shop made to look like a factory with high prices and a solitary piece of chocolate as a free sample.
Did the usual touristy things - Gondola ride at the Venetian (expensive) Volcano at the Mirage (free) Fountains at the Belagio (free)- we did this twice once during the day and again at night.
Star Trek experience was very expensive for what you got- but we had discount vouchers for some of the cost.
The pirate show at Treasure Island was ok (free) but not of great interest for any of us so we didn't hang around.
The one thing that annoyed me most about Circus Circus is the staff there continually hassling you about time share! They lost interest when told we were not Yanks but day in day out they were around all the shops.
All in all we got what we paid for it wasn't the Ritz but we had not paid top dollar either. Would I go back - yes when I can afford it!!!0 -
hi ejones...
I got back on Monday morning from Vegas...what a place!
Agree with most of what you said...well done for walking the strip.
We only ever managed to walk from the luxor to TI and back...but wife was drawn like a moth to all the shops!!
One tip I must say is take an empty case...We didn't and regretted it big time.
The premium outlet centre, about 20mins walk from stratosphere had some real bargins. Timberland boots for $30. is one example.
The deuce buses are a god send at 5$ for 24hr ticket and drivers are really helpfull.
We got shuttle bus from airport at 5$ each.
Fantastic place...anyone going will njoy!0 -
