I think I must be going at an expensive time cos I can't afford to stay in Luxor,NY NY Mirage or Madalay Bay..(Moneysaving).I have eneded up booking Circus Circus because it was the cheapest available on the strip.(I know some people said it was bad)...At the end of the day I am not there to sit in my room and I doubt I will have any time to go swimming I will be too busy doing other things...There's been some great tips on here though...
I could of got cheaper hotels off strip but as my mum and her friend are elderley i thought we would stay on the strip...
It gives me more money to do trips and see elton john

Another reason not to worry about the pool is ...your going in February. Temps can fall below freezing in Vegas in February and you can find the daytime max to be around 55-60,epecially early in the month (just as likely to be mid 70's though!). However, your biggest problem looks like being the distance from Circus Circus to the other hotels. Close enough for elderly people to walk to the Fashion Mall, but its a fair old hike to Caesars/Venetian/Bellagio region, never mind MGM/Mandalay Bay etc.

The best site I've found for tips and promo codes for booking rooms in Vegas and for which hotels to try the $20 trick is Fatwallet dot com

The $20 dollar 'trick' is when you effectively try to bribe/tip the front desk staff in order to get an upgrade for just $20 instead of the hotel's usual rate.

As wdyw said fatwallet.com forums are an excellent read (go to the travel forums, then search for 'vegas') with hundreds of posts on how successful it can be.

All I know is that tips seem to get you everywhere in Vegas!

good luck but if your in the Bellaigio you will be okay wheatever i think, if i were staying there i would try to get a lake /strip view. i don't think i would ever get tried of seeing the water ballet from my balcony:D :D . if your $20 only gets you a strip view at say the Luxor (for jen) then worth doing i think . unless you have to be close to an elevator ( spoke to lady who was in MGM and it took her 15 mins from room to exit of casino !!!!!!)

tips are practically manditory for everything in Vegas i found

    e.g from airport to room.

tip the guy who shouts the taxi (This is the ONLY WAY to get a taxi!!!! you cannot flag them down). tip the taxi driver . tip the guy opening your taxi door at your hotel . tip the check in guy. tip the bell hop . tip room service when you need a drink after your long flight.

lots of $1 bills in your wallet when you land a very good idea;)

also the photo ID thing again . if you intend to purchase any alcohol or go in ANY bars ect you will need to have with you with you no matter how old you are.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

My best piece of advice is for your girlfriend to take i.d (passport) with her wherever she goes as the Casino's and bars are very strict on checking this :)

I still can't get over it that I was asked to show my ID in The Cheesecake Factory a few weeks ago as i'm 51 :rotfl:

    .

I'm hoping the $20 will get us the spa suite actually :D (optimistic, yes, but it has happened for some!!).

I'm moving to Vegas in January and feel annoyed everytime I think about all the 'tips' I'll have to get used to paying out. I shan't forget what a friend who is already out there said '"you tip around 20% if you get good service but only around 10-15% if they're carp"!!! It's not really a tip is it at that point!

    :rotfl: Darned gender-unspecific internet!

Still you'll probably be better off paying for the upgrade considering the prices of wedding dresses!
