i won,t argue with you about the pool at NY NY it is it,s weakest point for sure. but i,ll still take NY NY over the Luxor on every other point .

pool is not high on my list so guess that sways my choice. i got quoted same price on Luxor and NYNY when i booked with Virgin . i know i made the right choice. ( although i not red hot keen on virgin service)

Rough guide travel books come up trumps again by recommending NYNY

i just wondered why nearly everyone i meet in this country who has gone to vegas stayed in the Luxor ????

Mirage or Mandalay bay for me next time i think to escape the Brit crowd
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

I think I must be going at an expensive time cos I can't afford to stay in Luxor,NY NY Mirage or Madalay Bay..(Moneysaving).I have eneded up booking Circus Circus because it was the cheapest available on the strip.(I know some people said it was bad)...At the end of the day I am not there to sit in my room and I doubt I will have any time to go swimming I will be too busy doing other things...There's been some great tips on here though...
I could of got cheaper hotels off strip but as my mum and her friend are elderley i thought we would stay on the strip...
It gives me more money to do trips and see elton john

I'm going to Vegas and will be staying at the Luxor. The place is a great novelty to some (my bf wants to stay in a pyramid!) and has certainly worked out cheaper than NYNY for the time we're going. I've seen a few of your posts and you need to get over the Luxor thing (are you on comission from NYNY??)! People have their reasons, dude!

And as for escaping the brit crowd...aren't you british????

Incidentally, to all, I found that booking directly with the hotel was by far the cheapest thing to do for us. Espeically as the hotels sometimes change their rates and all you have to do is ring up and change your booking to the new rate (Luxor just keeps on coming down). Of course, always check your t&cs for cancellation policies.

I'm going to try the $20 'trick' at both the Luxor and Caesars where we'll be staying in hopes of an upgrade - you just never know!

I think i'm more excited about that than actually staying in the hotels after reading all the gumph about it on the internet and obsessing over it for weeks (well work is boring!). Will certainly report back :D

    where to start???

yes i am british but i don,t do well ( at all !!) with the british general public here or abroad i,m afraid.

i can comment on the NYNY as i have stayed there last vist and it was nothing short of excellent ..so hey why not spread the good word . Plus i went every hotel on the strip so can compare them all

i spent a lot of time in the Luxor ( most of it not of my choice ...long story) and thought for the same price i was quoted it did not compare but i won,t argue if you can get some great moneysaving deals there... you could do a lot worse for sure !!! thing is you will have great time thats for certainty, i was just trying to help you have a better time for the same cost.

i,m not totally down on the place , it has it,s good points . novelty aside i enjoyed the poker room for it,s friendly staff ( more than i can say about MGM) . and the place is a hell of sight when you pull up. but i was dissapointed by the food , the shopping, and some of the 2nd floor attractions . and i got lost everytime i went in there as well:rotfl: :rotfl:

it;s just everyone i speak to stays there i just wanted to know why....well if the prices are that keen i guess i have my answer.i sometimes forget i am able to splash a little more than some

have fun Jenittals and my top moneysaving tip for the place is to buy your tickets for ALL Luxor shows Half price at the tickets outlets down the strip.

and please explain your $20 trick ?????
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

I know what you mean! We're on honeymoon though, in the Bellagio, so have already gone for a room upgrade..... can't see $20 getting us into the penthouse suite! :rotfl:
