I had a quick search through previous threads which indicated that 1 cup of flour was the equivalent of 8oz but I'm not sure about the water
and also as the tsp and tbsp are exact measurements I will be amazed if this first loaf turns out any good!! :rotfl:
I seem to recall that 1 cup of flour weighs 5oz, can anyone confirm?0 -
In true OS mode, I use the baby bottle (youngest is 21!) which has markings on the side and goes in the dishwasher. We also use that bottle to take milk in for thermos flasks as it leaves no taste and goes in the dishwasher.
My Morphy Richards 48200 went to the baker in the sky. I'd used it well for about 8 years. I have a pan and paddle that I don't need anymore as Father Christmas came down the chimney with a Panasonic. (PM if you want it)0 -
MR pan and paddle , not the panasonic oops0

If I asked very nicely please could I join this club as I've just realised that this BM is the one we bought at the weekend:j Have never read this or the Panasonic one before as we had a Kenwood previously.
Thank you!

Just got a Morphy Richards Compact Breadmaker, am baking my first loaf as I type  bit scared about how it would turn out...I must read through all these posts, but in the meantime if anyone has any tipsa about using this one that would be great...I only paid £22 for it, so couldn't justify buying a more expensive one, I just hope this one delivers reasonable bread (subject to my own skills)Jun GC £250.00/£12.40 NSD 3 / 30

Just after some really quick help, please. My daughter has been given the MR Fastbake and now that I have cleaned it all up for her, I'd like to do a test run on it.
I downloaded the instructions and can work that out okay but ... the machine was given to her without the measuring cup etc. Can anybody tell me what "1 cup" actually weighs, in terms of the amount of flour to use. Once I have that, I can work the amounts up or down but currently stuck. Many thanks.
PS I'm sure that the answer is in this thread somewhere but 41 pages is a little too much to go through in a dreary Monday morning!0 -
1 cup =240ml for liquid measurements.
1 cup flour = 150g (white 144g, brown 156g, granary 150g, wholemeal 132g)
1 cup sugar = 226g
1 cup dried fruit = 164g
these are quotes from the manual, hope it helps
Main tip: I learnt from previous posters that you get a "less cakey" loaf by leaving out the dried milk and reducing the amount of sugar, e.g. 1 tbsp sugar is sufficient unless you want it sweet.
Enjoy, it's great fun and the smell of freshly baked bread is wonderful!0 -
does anyone know if you can use normal flour in the bread maker, as used allison's and yes it was lovely bit £1.97 for a bag, or is it false economy if the loaf wont work?
what recipies would you recomend?
ive done, wholemeal and a garlic and ginger one by grinding it in from a mill i bpought for 99p but want to experiement from the cupbaord but worried ill end up chucking it, cheers:A :j0
