I love my MR Fast bake but i don't use the 'fastbake' setting on it as you use loads more sugar in it.
Also, i had another MR breadmaker before it broke (i did use it loads and loads over 7 yrs though) which made a 2 1/2 lb loaf and the loaf came out looking the shape of a shop bought loaf...whereas my new MR fastbake loaf comes out very tall and thin, so i turn it on its side before cutting it.
I do love it though.
I forgot to say MR have a very good aftersale service which i have used sometimes over the last 8 yrs
agree with that, kippers :T
We've started to use the dough setting more and then transferring to a loaf tin and baking in the oven. Defeats the point a little, but you get a better shaped loaf:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
Hi,
There's an older thread on the MR fastbake that should answer any questions you have so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the replies together.

Hi,
Just wanted to come and join in just received my first ever breadmaker this morning , and not knowing what make it was i received a Morphy Richards Fastbake breadmaker from a lovely lady on freecycle! Am well chuffed. The only thing it didnt come with was the measuring spoon and cup so hopefully i measured out the right amounts that are currently mixing. A bit worried though as it looks very watery! Or is that just the ones in this as it looks very different to the dough i make by hand looks more like batter!

Hi bennyskirt,
Welcome to Old Style :hello:
The dough in the breadmaker does look a bit sloppier than when making it by hand but hopefully it will be ok. If you want to you can order cups/measures directly from Morphy Richards
Good luck with your machine...I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed mine.

Ok made the bread, and yuck there is flour on the bottom, and it is sticky and glutinous looking on the inside and when cut is sticky and wet!!! What did i do wrong was looking forward to some warm bread as well.
I did the 1 adn a half loaf, but substituted milk powder for milk and olive oil for sunflower oil but i measured all of the stuff properly in a pampered chef solid and liauid measurer! The yeast i used was the quick action dried yeast and i didnt use all of it i measured it out properly so what happended???0 -
I was donated one of these yesterday so I thought I would give it a go, Cheated first time and bought the Hovis white bread mix.
Everything was going well but the top sunk and generally came out looking a bit yellow and a texture more like crumpet than shop bread...Will try from scratch next time.Debt Free Marathon: Start 01/06/09 £16714 - Current Position £14514 - Finish Line Xmas 20100 -

Well i tried again today and it worked realised i had measured the water wrongly and then used liquid milk. So re measured and used skimmed milk and lovely cheaper yummy bread was made
Have just set the timer to have fresh bread in the morning so we will see how that goes!:j
Cheers Heather for the advice:beer:0 -
