    Hi

I want to join the club!!

Got a MR Fastbake today-from my gran-free!!!! My favorite number, she said it was taking up too much room in her kitchen!!

Anyhow fancy using it more for fruit loaves than normal bread, plus the pizza dough.

It says in the book that accurate measuring is essential, but we don`t like walnuts-so will the banana bread fail if we don`t put it in?

    Thanks

If you really crush the walnuts (plastic bag + rolling pin!) you get very little taste, but they do add to the texture.
The fruit loaf is great, toasted on winter evenings (worth using some real butter) it's like toasted teacakes but much cheaper.

  • HELP

Made my first loaf, used a mix as 2 x £1 in asda, and a bloke at work said thats what they use.

Anyhow it`s sunk in the middle!! Booklet says liquid too warm. or was it that I added butter from the fridge?

Should I melt butter? and how do I get liquid right temp?

    Thanks

Oh dont buy the mixes the asda strong white bread flour is only 48p each and will do you up to 3 loaves the yeast is 50p for 8 sachets or 99p for a tin that will last ages and the skimmed milk powder again is not a lot of money and lasts ages. I always use butter straight from the fridge though when i use melted butter it probably cools as i do my loaves overnight to have fresh bread in the morning. it might be the mix you are using??? some one else might know i have had my FB for about 6-7 weeks but not had anything go wrong yet.

I have been doing a lot of the dough mixes for the rolls but instead of rolls i just spread on a baking tray and score it and have fab tear apart rolls for lunch or are great for dipping in a soup or mopping up gravy
    Still Trying :o

I've just brought a MR Fastbake, so far just made two 'basic white' loaf but they came out great. Set the timer overnight for the last one and the smell was heavenly when we came down the next morning.

I want to have a go at the pizza dough and make a couple of bases to freeze for quick meals. Do you mix the dough and then bake it in the oven, freeze and then defrost and put in the oven with the toppings or just freeze the dough and then bake and add toppings. Thanks! xx

  • hi

does anyone know why my rolls cook lovely on the top,but their bottoms stay soggy?
i'm making the dough in the BM,leaving the rolls to rise, then cooking at 180 degrees for about 15-20 mins, but if i leave em in any longer, they burn on the top ......i end up having to turn them over for a couple of minutes cos otherwise they taste ''doughy''

Cake recipes from my MR FB book (I have not tried any of these, so cannot vouch for how they turn out):

    Standard cake mix

    Ingredients group 1
    3/4 cup softened/melted butter
    1/2 tsp Vanilla essence
    4 medium eggs beaten
    3/8 cup Tepid water

    Ingredients group 2
    2 cups Plain white flour
    2 tsp Baking powder
    1/4 cup Caster sugar

    Use setting CAKE

    Method
    Mix group 1 together
    Sieve group 2 together
    Combine groups 1 & 2 together
    Put into breadpan
    Select cake setting
    Push start button

    Variations

Cherries - 1/2 cup of cherries, halved (wash thoroughly to remove excess syrup) and allow them to dry and drain on absorbent paper.

    or

    Mixed fruit - 1/2 cup

    or

    Chocolate chips - 1/4 cup

Add any of these variations into the breadpan last, on top of the other ingredients.

Ive just put this in today and Im a bit puzzled. I thought the "cake" setting on the BM would be different, but it still seems quite long and does the mix, long pause, mix just like it does with bread. Im looking at it an hour and a half into the process and thinking this will never rise. Has anyone made one successfully? I made the standard cake and put cherries in.

Just went to use my Fastbake and now the measuring cup has disappeared!

A few weeks ago it was the instruction booklet that went missing as family had decided to "help!" I eventually got that replaced but cannot keep replacing stuff that has no business being "lost".

Can anyone tell me the measurement of the cup so that I can try to cobble together the measurements myself and actually use the machine, please!

Why is it always my stuff - that I use - that gets "tidied" or just plain thrown away? I am in tears now and totally fed up!

Maybe I should just chain myself to the blasted kitchen - on a long lead?
