Sorry Annie-C, i forgot to look back at this thread until now. The recipe as per Delia for pitta bread is:
500g Bread flour (white)
2 tsp easy blend yeast
25g butter
1 1/2 tsp salt
310ml water
Put all of above onto dough setting
Divide dough into 12 then rollout into oval shapes. Put onto greased baking sheets & pop into oven gas mark 7 for 8-10 mins, or until golden brown and puffy.
Keep wrapped in tea towel until eaten as this keeps them soft.
Suitable for freezing and re-heating or eating cold when defrosted.
They are yummy!

Any recipes for Naan breads please?0

I asked when I joined, she said that I would have to work everything out individually i.e syns for flour, marge etc Advised me that it would be alot easier if I just bought the stuff.
Oh my goodness, thats rubbish of her. You will have to work all the syns out yourself - but it is sooo worth it. at my classes they had a file of favourite recipes all photocopied in pockets of an A4 file, that you were allowed to take a copy of each week and that you were encouraged to add to. The more frequerntly you calculate things yourself the easier it gets0 -
Has anyone had much success jam making in the bread machine as per the Morphy richards recipe? Is it a nightmare to clean afterwoods?
Yes, it works with jam. :T I was well chuffed, first ever jam I made. Didn't use their recipe, though, just raspberries, lemeon juice and sugar.
It does stick a bit to the tin, but came off after a quick soak and gentle persuasion with a cloth. No worse than cleaning any other pot or pan really.
Just make sure you don't put too much in, you definetly don't want to risk it boiling over.0 -
The bread is lovely, but since I started eating it I developed indigestion. Which part of the recipe should I adjust?0

I have several bread machine recipe books. Three I maily use, and are very good are Electric Bread. The Complete Bread Machine Cookbook by Sonia Allison. These two I highly recommend especially the Sonia Allison book. I keep to the manuals way of putting the ingredients in though. She does her's different. Her book also does gluten free bread recipes and dairy free bread recipes. All delicious. The third book I have gives advise for making cakes without having to do the pre mixing. This one is called Real Food recipes for your Breadmaker by Carol Palmer. I haven't made two much stuff from her book, but there are some nice recipes in there, and some cake and jam recipes.0

Try this one if you like a rich white loaf that is easy to slice.
Makes a 1 1/2 loaf (use the 1lb setting, you may want a light crust instead medium depending on taste):
1 egg plus 1 egg yolk
6 fl oz fresh milk
1 1/2 tbsp butter
3 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1lb 2oz white bread flour
2 1/4 tsp yeast
Bung it all in and press start! :T
What cook setting do you use the same as a basic white or the sandwich loaf ?????Still TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

I just use the basic white, but I guess I should experiment more with the different settings to see what comes out best."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
