It's bigger than I expected! I've been trying to decide between this one and the Panasonic that people are also raving about, but I thought the MR one didn't look quite as big in the picture.0 -
The MR is quite big, it domintes our tiny kitchen! And we can't open the lid when its under the cupboards you have to pull it out first.0

Did you use vitamin c to help it rise? In combination with vit c and too much yeast, my first few over-rose then collapsed. I now use just 60mg vit c +the yeast -measured with the spoon to be really accurate.0 -
Hi all :j
I made a large wholemeal loaf yesterday but used 2 cups of wholemeal flour and 2 cups of strong white bread flour, I did not add a Vitamin C tablet as I did not have any. The bread rose to the top of the pan and turned out great. So far one of the best yet.
I have bought some hovis strong seeded white, although I nearly didn't buy it as it was £1.03 for a 1kg bag but then laughed to myself as previously (before I had a BM) I would have spent more than that on one loaf. Anyway can I ask where everyone buys their flour, I note a few of you have mentioned Lidl. I don't have one nearby but there is one I could make a trip to.
Also can someone please tell me what are onion granules, the recipe for cheese and onion bread calls for this ingredient but i have been unable to find it, although probably looking in wrong place. So far I have found garlic granules with the herbs and spices and dried onions - can I use these instead.
Thankyou everyone

Hi catswhiskers,
I bought some Hovis seeded flour, but to make it stretch a bit further; I use one part seeded flour, one part strong bread flour, and two parts own brand plain flour. Add a good handful of seeds (I got packets from Asda) and bake on the basic setting. This is the loaf I make most often and use for the packed lunches every day.
As you can see from above, to cut costs I'm using half and half strong bread flour and ordinary plain flour. The bread doesn't look or taste any different at all.
The cheese and onion bread is fabulous.......you can buy the onion granules in tesco (own brand) with the herbs and spices. I didn't have any onion granules so I've been using dried onion flakes that a neighbour gave me instead, but I haven't had a chance to ask her yet where she got them from. Where did you get the dried onions? I love them because then you get little bits of onion in the bread.

dried onions you can get in the "salad" section near the dressings - for sprinkling on er salads
they also do bacon style bits - but i think they are made of soya? Dunno, but might pick some up
Anyone having any struggles with using Carrs Wholemeal flour? Ive done 2 so far. ONe on the wholemeal setting, one on the brown setting, both ended up with a crinkled "caved in top" anyone know what IM doing wrong?
INcidentally weve decided to buy these for people for Xmas one for my sis & OH and one for the in-laws. Anyone seen them cheap anywhere- I doubt that LX price is gonna be available to us again DARN IT! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most?
