yes, those are the ones I saw :)

iirc they have 4 cup measures, 1, 1/2, 1/3 + 1/4? and 1 Tablespoon, 1 teaspoon, 1/2 teaspoon & 1/4 teaspoon? ... no need to be paying over the odds to big manufacturers :T

A milk loaf looks yummy, might have to try one tomorrow - can't see the loaf I made tonight lasting long.
Right, the milk loaf came out well..much less dense than the normal basic white loaf. I cooked it on basic white 2lb light crust setting, it still has a crust that I would have prefered lighter (maybe it's just my machine as they all look the same on every crust setting!) but the middle was light and fluffy :)
The youngest has taken it to school today so I will get a verdict from him later! :rotfl:
Anyway, I weighed the ingridients on the scales and used normal measuring spoons for any of those who want to have a go.
Oh, it rose really well but right at the end the top dipped into a slight crater but I think I slipped slightly and added a tad too much yeast so just make sure your more careful than clumbsy old me! lol

Right, that explains it! Is tala american measurements then?

The tala measurer has british and american cup sizes on it. It also does measurements for different dry ingredients too. They are all written on the inside of the cup.

Does anyone have a failsafe (if there is such a thing) recipe for everyday white bread to use in my MR Fastbake machine. I am having a nightmare with it. I have even tried using a hovis bread mix and cutting down the water but it is still like a crumpet inside! Also it seems to have risen and then sun in the middle which makes it difficult to cut. Saying that last one was fed to the birds as it was really awful and it isn't often that I will waste food nowadays

  • I have a success every time with the white bread recipe in my MR Fastbake machine manual. I always bake on the white bread setting and this recipe is for a large loaf.

1 1/8 cups of tepid water
2 1/2 tblspns of skimmed milk powder
    2 1/2 tblspns butter
    2 1/2 tblspns sugar
    1 1/4 tspns salt
3 cups strong white bread flour (Lidl's) sometimes use 2 cups white and 1 cup soft grain
    1 1/4 tspns yeast

    Bake and enjoy.

I don't use cups for measuring.

All measurements are in grams or teaspoon.
All measurements done with the container on the scales, saves on washing up.

add in the container in the following order

    250g water
    3/4 teaspoon salt
    30g olive oil
480g bread floor (I get mine from Lidl)
1 1/4 teaspoon Fast action yeast
1 teaspoon of Light Brown Muscovado sugar.

On my MR fastbake, Select wholemeal setting for 2lb loaf and light crust.

    This gives perfect results everytime.
  • What happens if raisins are added before the 40 minute beeps? Are they squashed?
I may make a gluten free loaf for my sister - are there any tips to using gluten free flour or is it just same as... ?
    Cheers

    T

If you add any extras sweet or savoury before the beep then they get chopped up.

If added after the beeps then the mixing and chopping bit of the process is over and they stay whole.
