  • okey dokey, the rolls came out ok(ish)...my own fault...forgot they were in the machine and the dough doubled in size but in the actual machine! whoopsie! I have just put the ingriedients for the loaf to be ready in the morning, I did manage to drop 1 drop of sunflower oil on the yeast just as I was finishing but It doesn't seem to be activating it so hopefully it will be ok :)
ps, thanks Turkishdreamer, i'm so glad Lidl have the stuff i need for the recipes as it's so much closer! lol

I almost always set it up overnight, it works fine. I did assume that it wouldn't matter if the water was cold, but it wasn't quite as good so now I use tepid.

I think you're right. I always use water from the fridge but I've found the longer I set the timer the better the loaf.
  • yippee! It worked..it had even hit the top of the window!!! The dogs were going mad in the kitchen this morning when I got up though cos it's was making them hungry! hahaha

  • Pizza Recipe

    9fl oz/1 1/8 cups water
    2fl oz/ 1/4 cup olive oil
    1 1/2 tspn sugar
    1 1/2 tspn salt
16 oz/3 cups strong white bread flour
    2 1/2 tspn instant yeast

Pour the oil and the water into the breadmaker bucket and add the sugar and salt. Cover with the flour and sprinkle the yeast over. Fit the bucket into the breadmaker and set to the dough programme.

When the dough cycle is complete, turn the dough out on to a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Divide the dough in half and roll each piece into a 12" round, stretch the dough to cover an oiled and floured pizza tin. Brush the dough with oil and cover with required topping.

If you want a thicker crust, leave to prove before topping.

    Bake at 220 degrees/425 F/gas mark 7 for 20-25 minutes.

I wouldn't think you coukld make pastry in the BM though.

  • Thought I would share this one with you. First time make for me.

Made it this morning before going to work, took some for lunch, had some with my dinner, no more today.

Parmesan and sundried tomato bread - yummmmmy:j

    9 fl oz/ 1 1/8 cups water
1 fl oz/ 1/8 cup olive oil (I used sunflower oil)
    1 tbspn sugar
    2 tspn salt
2 1/2 oz/ 1/2 cup soft grain strong white bread flour (didn't have any, so used 5 oz/ 1 cup country grain bread flour)
    2 1/2 oz/ 1/2 cup rye flour (didn't have any)
11 oz/ 2 cups strong white bread flour
    1 1/4 oz/ 1/2 cup finely grated parmesan
    1 1/4 tspn instant yeast
2 oz/ 1/2 cup roughly chopped sundried tomatoes

I also added 1/4 cup of black olives - yum yum

Our the oil and water into the breadmaker bucket, followed by the sugar and the salt. Add the soft grain and rye flour. Sprinkle the parmesan over and cover with the strong white bread flour. Finally sprinkle the yeast over.

Cook on the basic white bread setting (large loaf). Add the tomatoes and olives (if using) after the bleep.

Remove the loaf from the BM and leave to stand for at least an hour before removing the paddle and cutting.

I cut the loaf in half and then in half again, so you get small slices, although I think I just ate more.

Am going to freeze half of the loaf, otherwise, I will just eat the lot.

    Enjoy:)
