    Wow.

I guess they are all wrong then.

Teresa May has said in the Commons that the use of water canons could only ever be approved by the Home Office, and that approval has not been sought nor given.

yes but in other socialist rags like the telegraph she was reported as saying that ministers should not stand in the way of their use.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/8198035/Police-cleared-to-use-water-cannon-on-rioters.html

Ministers would not stand in the way if senior officers wanted to use the crowd control weapons, Theresa May said, adding that in the wake of last week’s attack on the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, future demonstrations needed to be policed “robustly.”

The vast majority could not give a damn about whether students have to pay to go to uni or not. It has just been turned into a big issue because the protestors make a lot of noise.

And a lot of older labour supporters are using it as a tool to rachet up strain on the government.

This thread is a prime example, how dare they stop people destroying things.

There were many storys of students attacking people also ninky, I remember one where they said 3 people were getting beaten on radio 5.

So, I would like to here your solution ninky.

I have a great deal of sympathy for students the problem as I see it that the old system of free education was too generous and the forthcoming system is a litlle harsh to introduce so rapidly with the recent history of free education. Obviously the students are going to feel hard done by. I would have preferred to see fees slowly increased over a number of years.

However no matter how unfair it appears to some people there is no excuse for damaging property.

Does that say the government want to use water canons or does that say she will back the police if they feel it needs to get to that stage?

Should you be blaming the police and not the government?

We know, Labour are not in power so the socialists get in a mood again and cause the gullible to kick off.
After racking up 7 years of debt the socialist are blaming the new government for the cuts.

Why are we having cuts Ninky, can you remember who raked the debt up?????

The toff tories could have done better?

You do know the cuts are equivalent to taking tea spoons full of water out of a full bath with constant running water from the tap filling it up, the tap being the interest on that debt?

Cuts is more like hacking away at what they don't want and using this debt as a reason to justify it.

The 'debt' will never be paid off. They will just print more.

As for that toff spinster speaking in parliament, of course she will stick up for the sadistic police, not the general public that runs the country...

I've just had a look through bbc photos, we've got grafitti, bricks going through windows, god knows what the cost of the damage is to the royal car.

ALL the clean up costs should come from future student funding, the more the protest and vandalise, the more gets cut, problem solved.

who cares about the royal bleeding car? i'm more worried about the cost of the royal car. what is more important - allowing people to be educated on merit not wealth or some inherited notion of royalty and someone who has married into that being protected at taxpayers expense?

graffitti can be cleaned off. lost futures are harder to replace. and that is what is at stake here.

Lets hope that any future employers of these monkies see the mugshots then don't employ them - that would serve them right.

That;s alright, they can just claim benefits and take your tax money instead lol.

So the other solution was carry on spending and see what happens, I think that was done from 2001 onwards.
The debt is the result of that not the credit crunch.

maybe if police officers spot a pick pocket on oxford street they should open the water cannon on the high street?

My suggestion would be to open up the water cannon on the streets of Soho instead - it always seems to smell of p**s down there.

they are two seperate issues Ninky.

being educated is a fundamental right or opportunity - it's not something that only the financially better off people can afford to do.

the violence part is due to people not getting the fundamental right - this comes from somewhere, it's not just happened because they feel like causing a criminal offence, it's happened because there is something very wrong with what the government are doing...
