Sponge from the nanny state? That's a joke.
It's the governemnt who are putting fees up.

the Tories aren't the answer, Labour weren't either. the Lib Dems aren't even worth considering, the jokers... .And the Tories are the cure? lol
Get real.
the protests are an example of people not being happy - it will get worse; but at least people will blame the deficit and Labour. it makes it easy that way instead of looking at what they're actually doing wrong...0 -

it soon will be when it comes to higher education. to my mind too many thick 'posh' people do degrees and not enough able people from disadvantaged backgrounds. this is likely to only become worse with these condem measures. oxbridge already recruits 92 percent of students from the top 3 social classes. we already have problems with equality of opportunity in the uk. no need to make it worse.
There is enough research around mainly from Scandinavian countries showing that if you want equality of opportunity then you need to spend lots of money on pre-school education not on higher education.
That means you spend a large amount of the money available for education on family intervention and education of those aged 1-7, than educating those aged 18+. As if you get it right in those first years then your social costs such as prison costs, unemployment benefit costs and remedial classes for basic skills are much less.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

People in the UK aren't taxed to death.
Have a look at the taxes paid elsewhere in Europe and the waste of their governments. Also have a look at the taxes people paid before Thatcher came into power.
Problem is that we have an entitlement culture and an expectation from the state that doesn't match the state's income raised from taxation.
Either the government (of any party) is open and honest about such things as how much they are spending on council grants so we clearly know why are council tax are the levels they are - or they continue to obfuscate tax issues.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

the menezes incident is a completely different one of mistaken information and over-reaction and not related to protestors.
It's a policing matter and not something controlled by the government of the time, ergo it is exactly as (ir)relevant as the original statement.
Although these protests are a lot more violent than those held against the Iraq war, when labour was in power, they are nowhere near as large. So far, all you can say for certain is that people opposed to Labour's policy were more peaceful when protesting than those opposed to the coalitions
I still can't see how Labour brings in tuition fees (after promising not to) and funds the balance by unmaintainable borrowing and virtually nothing happened. The conservative led coalition extends them (which I think is a huge mistake) and we get this. You couldn't get a much clearer example of faux (partisan) outrage.Having a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. Blackwhite bellyfeel double plus good...0 -
