Here we go:
*At 17 you can LEGALLY have a firearms certificate and buy/own firearms and ammo, so the goverment is LEGALLY allowing you to own the tools of killing, but wont allow you to watch /play an animation.
The Law's not Ok if you go round shooting people with them though.cheepskate wrote: »*At 16 you can LEGALLY be trained to , slaughter men or be slaughtered , in the name of war(until recently Gulf/Kosovo wars, under 18's were sent into war. Despite the current policy of keeping those under 18 out of hostilities, the MoD spokesman admitted it was not always possible), but again you are not allowed to play a war game that is less violent than what you have actually experienced.
Not 8 year olds though.
Not 9 year olds, 10 year olds, 11 year olds, 12 year olds, 13 year olds, 14 year olds or 15 year olds either. There's a big difference between the ages of 8,9,10,11,12 or 13 and 16.cheepskate wrote: »*At 16 you can LEGALLY marry and carry out all those sex scenes, that you are not allowed LEGALLY to watch.
Yeah. It's not the well parented kids who do that though is it?cheepskate wrote: »At 12 you are LEGALLY allowed to buy a pet, as they believe obviously you are mature enough to care for this animal, but not to play an animation
cheepskate wrote: »*At ANY AGE you are LEGALLY allowed to become a parent
Not true. You can do the biological process necessary to conceive a foetus after puberty for a couple of decades. That's not being "a parent".
cheepskate wrote: »*AT ANY age you are LEGALLY allowed to own a shotgun licence.
But you can't shoot people with it.cheepskate wrote: »As for the marked ones, as parents you would have no say in the matter, but of course you could still enforce the game rule, just to make you feel better.
Says it all really
Yeah. That's why parents do it.At my school we mocked kids whose parents let them do things they're not supposed to. We know who the good parents are. It's embarassing to have ones who don't care what we do.

i would say , that i do not think the game would be suitable , however maybe as a compromise is that you buy it and you play it together and tell him he cannot play it alone , speak to him about the content and explain that it will be violent and he may not like it in places but if he is anyway affected he is to tell you so that you both can deal with it ,

OOOOHHH read back to what you have just said.
So your parent brought you up to be a bully, Very good parenting. Im glad im not "a good parent" then.0 -
OK. Buying these games for children is not against the law. There is an explanation of the law on the Video Standards Council website for anyone who would like to read it. Please do before making any more uninformed comment. And to the poster who thinks it encourages children to break the law, surely that would also apply to every parent who ever broke the speed limit? No?
It is interesting how many are willing to condemn people as bad parents based on one criteria - the use of video games. Many of my son's friend who play these games come from church going middle class homes and are very well adjusted, lovely children. I also note that when on this forum someone recommends hitting a child, that is real physical violence, there is nowhere near such a hysterical response.
Carry on.0 -

I allow my child to play COd, but as for the original OP's question my reply would have been(before it got taken over by the " bad/abusive parent brigade)
You alone decide if you want to allow your child to play this game, not from pressure from your child or because his mates have it.
If we exclude the issue of the game itself, it is about you parenting your child and not allowing peer/social pressure to parent them for you....... and not listning to hysteria from some quarters0 -

No, you've misunderstood. Mocking people is what you do to your friends. It's teasing for fun. Everybody mocks everybody else. Nobody's being bullied. If they're good looking, good at sport and have lots of money then having crap or stupid parents is one of the few things we can take the mick about.0 -

cheepskate wrote: »Sure, thats exactly what you meant.
Yeah I did. If you look at my earlier posts I said we would feel sorry for a Year 3 whose parents let them play 18 rated games. Not bully them. Everybody taks the mick out of their friends. Everybody with a sense of humour anyway.0 -
