  • Hi, I've just bought a 4.2 litre slow cooker from Mr S. It was a good price but it doesn't include a recipe book and I wonder if anyone could recommend a good one.
    Thankyou.

I agree that there are lots of recipes online, but if you want a cookbook I would recommend the Ultimate Slow Cooker, it is reduced from £9.99 to £3.99 at the moment on The Book People and if you google "book people free delivery" there is a current free delivery code (I used it last week but can't remember what it was!)

There are loads of tried and tested recipe ideas on this forum.

One of the more experienced posters or a board guide can help you with links to the threads.

;) Felines are my favourite ;)
  • I've just bought myself The slowcooker Library Real Meals from your slow cooker by Annette Yates & Wendy Hobson & love it! :j

It's really easy to follow. There are also another 4 books too

Convenience foods for the slow cooker
The classic casseroles for your slow cooker
    Convenience foods for singles
New recipes for your slow cooker

I bought mine from Waterstones for £8.99
Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker :)
  • Hi everyone, hope you are all well. I have been coveting a slow cooker for a while now and my super lovely OH has got me one!!! :j But....it is a basic one and doesn't come with any help on how you actually cook in it. I really just want some easy throw it all in and leave it to go ideas.

Can anyone possibly point me the direction of a simple recipe book or website. I don't want anything fancy as the OH likes plain flavoursome food not lots of spices and herbs and things. Thank you very much for your help and advice.

  • Hi!

There is another thread on here along the lines of "What is in your slow cooker today". You should get lots of tips there.

However, the SC is ideal for simple traditional cooking. I don't really bother any more with recipes and just make it up as I go along with whatever bargains I pick up at the supermarket.

My biggest tip is you hardly ever need to add water or stock to your dishes in my experience.

Fot example, sausage casserole. Chuck in some sausages (if you really can be bothered brown them off first as they can look a bit pale, I don't bother though), chopped leek and onion. A tin of tomatoes and a tin of baked beans and maybe and oxo cube or two. stir it all up and leave it on low all day! Done

Of course, change the above to whatever you have in bottom of fridge. Add carrots as well or celery or a tin of kidney beans.
