Thank you, will try and find a BOOK WORLD, the 3 for £10.00 offer seems good, because 2 friends want a slo-cooker cook book too!!

Yesterday I did scour all the charity shops in my nearest town, until my neck was aching looking upside down on the lowest shelves, but it was to no avail!
Most charity shops put even-sized cook books together, but the lesser well known charities seems to throw books onto shelves in any order!!

my sister got me 1001 recipies from one of those book outlook places (the works or something similar). I don't think it was expensive but it is a massive paperback and full of all types of recipies, there's not many things I haven't found in there. Athough it's not a special slow cooker book it does give you lots of ideas which can be adapted for the slow cooker by not adding as much liquid.

Have you tried ordering one of the books from your local library? Ours only charges 60pence and you can borrow it for three weeks.

I also think thebookpeople.co.uk sell some for about a fiver.

I found "Leave it to Cook" by Stella Atterbury in a second hand shop. It was first published in 1968, so is very old fashioned in many ways, but is based on the premise that filling an oven with various dishes and then cooking them on the lowest setting, either all day or all night, saves money in terms of ingredients, fuel and time. I think that a lot of the recipes would be ideal for use with a slow cooker, and a quick Google found two places that it is still available:

I've also just been sent a free ebook which is 470 slow cooker recipes.
I won't post it but if anyone wants me to email them a copy just pm me. I haven't looked yet but you'd hope to find something decent amongst 470 recipes!

If its any help I managed to pick up a copy of the Tower Slo-cook Book at a charity shop yesterday - it still has its dust jacket with the ISBN no!
    ISBN 0-572-00977-4
I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I Know

  • I would like to use my slow cooker more, can anyone recommend a good recipe book especially for meats, soups and puddings? Alternatively do you know of any good writers of slow cooker recipe books?

  • I was given a slow cooker as a crimbo pressie and as of yet, haven't used it but no doubt I will very soon.
I am no good at this computer lark:confused: , however if you type in slow cooker recipe index in the search text box at the top of the page and highlight forums, it will take you to loads of recipes and recommendations for books. ;)
