Slow Cooker Cook Book

Options
I know there is a long thread on here regarding recipies, but I just wondered if anyone had a good cookery book to recommend.

I have looked in a couple of second had book shops to no avail, and we have a local book discount warehouse, with thousands of cook books, everything under the sun there apart from Slow Cookers.

I know most ordinary recipies can be adapted to the slow cooker, but I have a bit of a 'thing' about cookery books. Don't tell Mr. T I'm after another one!

I bought the slow cooker a couple of years ago, with just one sheet of recipies, after reading the thread its in use 4/5 times a week.

I bought a paperback called Slow Cooking Propery Explained. Wish I hadn't bothered really (although I also have a 'thing' about cook books!). The best recipes and suggestions are all on this site. :D
  • I have also been trying to find a copy of the Tower slo-cooker book, but have just bought New Recipes for your Slo-cooker by the same author (Annette Yates) £8.99. It has some some great recipes, including soups, sauces, fish, meat, poultry, game, puddings and deserts, chutney, lemon curd, mulled wine etc She has also written another slow cooker book - Real food from your slo-cooker, but haven't tried that one yet!

I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.
  • I bought a slow cooker for £8.99 in the Argos sale at Christmas and have been looking for a suitable recipe book to use with it ever since, so imagine my delight when I picked up the Prestige Crock-pot cookery book for the princely sum of 49p in a charity shop yesterday!!

Despite its title it is a British book and all the measurements are imperial. Can't wait now to try out some new ideas!!

What a bargain Callyanna. I love cookbooks but quite often I print out a recipe from the internet and if I like it I put it in a plastic sleeve in a ring binder. I like the all recipes site mentioned above because you can read the reviews of the recipe. Dont be put off by American sites, most stuff can be adapted to English ingredients or measurements.

This link is for the Morphy Richards slow cooker instruction book that I have. There are lots of recipes there that are quite useful, although it says to brown meat first I usually dont bother.

  • There's a high street shop which seems to be up and down the country called BOOK WORLD (Which has been having a sale recently). I got a book called The slow cooker recipe book from there (over 150 recipes)- it is very good. Costs £4.99 by itself or you can get 3 books for £10- might be a better offer there now. They have loads of cook books, I got another one about bread making and bread machines and a third about salmon. Would recommend the shop.
