  • No. 177 checking in with the 8th OP of the year at £700.00

I sometimes feel like I'm wishing my life away by constantly waiting on the next payday and living on a stringent budget to maximise the OP. I could get hit by a bus tomorrow !!!!!! - perhaps need more balance. Feeling cranky today, sure it will pass.

    Well done everybody!:o

August was an expensive month as predicted. Three family birthdays and a now emptied car fund, service, Mot and insurance plus a big thank you to whoever decided that slashing nearly new car tyres was a legitimate form of entertainment!

    OP for August £828.12.
As September's hoped for OP will take me over my target can I up my ante to £8000 please Cake

£208 overpayment leaving my account tomorrow. Mortgage balance after standard payment and OP is expected to be about £ 31218

£208 is just my regular budgeted OP - nothing extra. Not doing too well. I think I've just got naffed off with everything going up and my motivation is relatively low. MF is still on my agenda but I'm not not as enthusiastic about it as I have been /should be. Am sure i will pick up again.

I did treat myself to an Xbox Kinect for my birthday - mostly financed by monetary gifts (get me and my first game console at 40 :D). I bought it to get my @rse off the sofa and so far its working - I love Dance Central.....but only on my own and only with the curtains closed. But other than that I've kept a good rein on my spending. Buying a good variety of tasty but healthy food on budget remains challenging.

Currently got a big US holiday to pay for (accom and flights already paid for - just food and spending money to sort out) and some decorating jobs, a little dental work :(, quite a few birthdays in September, some household repairs in October.......all of that is coming out of my savings, so it's all covered but it means that I'm not comfortable taking anything else out of savings at the moment to bulk up my OP'ing. I will review in December and maybe look at making a small lump sum then when I have a better picture of what's available/how much I think I'll need for 2012. I find it very difficult to shrug off that nice warm security blanket.......but the reality is, I probably do have too much sat in accounts earning between 2.8 - 5%.

Infact (I've just looked) 76% of my savings earns less interest than that which I pay on my mortgage. Hhhhmm not good.

    How are you all doing?

    Off to update googledocs

Saved £3k in August - a total of 26k for the year which is great as the initial target was "only" 20k I think. Looks like we should get much higher than initially imagined, although one never knows what the next 4 months will hold between now and Christmas.
Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
September 2016 - Back into clearing a mortgage - Was due to be paid off in 32 years in March 2047 -
April 2018 down to 28.00 months vs 30.04 months at normal payment.
Predicted mortgage clearing 03/2047 - now looking at 02/2045

Aims: 1) To pay off mortgage within 20 years - 2037

    Hi all,

No.40 reporting in for what will be my lowest payment so far this year.

Unfortunately I have to reduce the payment to my reg saver (my motgage offset account) drastically for the September payment. I will be £500 down on what I'd normally put in but it can't be helped. I may be able to top this back up in the next month or so and get back on track.

So, as I've had to make the decision today, I'll update on the googledocs form now in advance of the payments tomorrow.

    Thanks as always Cake.

    All the best,
    Spigs
