June payment just off for this month. Paid £938, an overpayment of £500.
I have beaten my annual target at the halfway point. Must line up a treat.
My mortgage is in two parts, £6,638 @ 2.5% and £3,614 @4.5%.
I over pay the highest interest by £500/m
Both were about £7.5k when I started at the beginning of the year. I had previously been mortgage free for all of 1 month. The good news is my dental treatment, the reason for needing the funds, finished today.
My new target is to reduce my balance to £6,000 by year end.
I would like to encourage everyone to keep at it, you know it makes sense. :TMortgage free

Hi can join? I've filled in on line form to be added to the list.
My current mortgage balance is £243,854.81.
I plan to try and overpay £1000.00 each month, more if possible. I am managing this as childcare costs now gone with youngest off to school after summer and car loan also paid in full.
Do I need to post anything else just now?
Thanks!0 -
I didn't get any of the tickets I requested for the Olympic Games, so I have put some of that money (£500) towards the overpayments for May.
May overpayments are now £2,750.
I think I got 2 tickets for the Women's football final at wembly (my daughter was pleased!) The strategy seemed to have been to apply for the higher priced tickets!
Don't forget that there are further opportunites to buy tickets and as you didn't get any in the first round, you'll get priority. If you are really desperate to get some, Thomas Cook have packages (tickets+hotel) available, but cheap they ain't!

Goobergirl hi and welcome to the madness of mortgage free wannabes (mfw)
Thats a hell of a OP you are planning to do each month, best of luck with that. Most of us on here have a dairy to keep track of things and get advice etc. Perhaps start by doing that and introducing yourself and your circumstances. Have a read of others first to get the feel of what we are all about. Most do a Statement of Affairs (soa) so they can see if there is anything we can get rid of, cut back on etc.

Hi everyone
Have updated googledocs. Cheers Cake.
Budgeted OP of £208 left current account on 1st and on Saturday I paid another £70 over the counter (what a flipping palavar that was). The extra £70 was made up of 'rewards' (ie Halifax Rewards & Clarity) and a bit of surplus cash.
Car Insurance paid.
Holiday part-paid.
Changing one of my current accounts to earn £150
Haven't been very good sticking to budget recently - new clothes, things for garden etc.
New Boiler has seen a good reduction in gas consumption (comparing 2011 months to same months last year) which is fab.
Thats it - nothing of interest to report. Feeling a little flat at present so the motivation and encouragement on this forum is very much appreciated0 -
£83.01 op for June 2011.
Got to admit I feel a bit inferior compared to some of the other ops people manage. But I suppose I can only afford what I can afford. As my Mum always said "Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves"0
