I don't think many people will actually 'expect' to receive this item.

However, you are missing the point about the anger and the wish to complain / take this matter further. Laws, rules and regulations are in place to protect both sellers and consumers. What this seller appears to have done is to have acted dishonestly in their email cancelling the order by stating they didn't even sell the item, and this can be demonstrated by screenshots of their own website etc., selling the exact same item..

If there were no such laws etc in place then what it is to stop a multitude of online sellers falsely advertising goods at bargain prices, collecting the money, claiming an error and refunding the money. Seems harmless enough. However, in such cases the seller has now had thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of pounds in their bank account for a few days before refunding it. That's one way of making money I suppose! The laws are in place to protect us from scams like these.

I am not saying this instance was a scam. It may well have been a genuine error, but if it was the seller should have been honest. It is the dishonesty and taking buyers for fools that is really angering people.

I have seen occasions on here when apparent bargains have been snapped up, only for it to be a genuine misprice. In cases where the seller has been honest and apologised the forum members accept it and move on to the next possible bargain. The irritation and anger arises when sellers think they can make anything up to get out of a contract.

Actually you are wrong, I've received 2 emails to cancel my 2 orders. On Amazon they say 'dispatching soon' We are preparing these items for dispatch and this portion of your order cannot be cancelled or changed. So at present we are 'locked' into payments via amazon and the order so far has only been cancelled outside of amazon. So no refunds have been made, and it seems amazon are unaware that this issue is taking place behind the scenes! I would normally walk away and be done with it but this is taking the p seeing as you can't action anything against the seller at present and they have the money!

just read the last page of this... hmm dodgy.
If it was me trying to scam you, I'd email and say 'sorry for the cancellation, yes you can have a refund. It will appear as <insert a very adult-related-goods-sounding-company here> on your credit card statement. If you accept then reply to this email' !

I think that scam idea was doing the rounds years ago when I was at school.
