How on earth did I not see this untill today??!!
I guess if I fill in the form and post if recorded post on Monday I will beat the deadline?

Can anyone clarify please...OH's P60 tax codes all end in L, he was the main income earner,we lived together but were not married at that time. Our children were born in 1998 and 10th April 2003 (5days too late!!! )...oldest child is my husbands step daughter-does this matter? Also, the youngest is 5 days too old to be elegible BUT his due date was 5th April if this could possibly count? Could produce medical notes to prove this if needed.

Ive read the whole thread looking for the answers but no luck.

hubby was earning in these years but paid higher tax rate. DOes this matter? WIll they say that as you earned a high rate you do not qualify or will they say this was an allowance that was not given and you are still entitled? Anyone know??
  • Hi see this look at section E near the end, it tells you how to work it out for higher rate tax payers.
  • Found a link to the HMRC (formerly Inland Revenue) form to make the claim. Here it is.

    http://search2.hmrc.gov.uk/kbroker/hmrc/forms/viewform.jsp?formId=3282

No need to use a no win no fee company, just fill in the form and send it to your usual tax office.

A quick way to find out if you are entitled to claim is to phone your local tax office, they will be able to tell you if you are or not.

To find your local tax office number go here

    http://search2.hmrc.gov.uk/kbroker/hmrc/locator/locator.jsp?type=1

    Type in your postcode!

    Hope this helps

It looks as if you may qualify for the children born before 5th April 2003, however the one who was born after i doubt they would qualify, even though they were due before the 5th April. I would fill in the form and send it back, it takes a couple of minutes. They can only say no.
