Aw I'm too late to recommend this hotel.

Re the bizarre thread hijacking incident, I've lived in many places in England and am glad I left them all behind to make my home in Cardiff :)

Also, I could point to many examples of anti-Welsh comments posted on this website by English people, but I've never seen any anti-English comments posted by Welsh people.

By the way black-saturn I am English, if that makes any difference to how you interpret my comments.

How has the location of the Marriott got anything to do with my comments?

Yes, because the Marriott is nowhere near the Hilton, so if you don't even know where you stayed, how can you comment about the City like you do!

  • black-saturn - You are obviously just trying to stir up an argument. This has nothing to do with the original thread and I think many people would prefer you kept your thoughts to yourself or better still go over to the arms which is more suited to this type of discussion!
You laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same

Thought I'd resurrect this thread to post some facts from the Times about crime in Cardiff:
    http://images.thetimes.co.uk/TGD/picture/0,,301979,00.jpg
The only towns and cities with a lower mugging rate in England and Wales are Rotherham, Swansea, Plymouth, Exeter, York, Norwich, Eastboune, Poole and Ipswich. You have a 1 in 1000 chance of being mugged there. You are 5 times more likely to be mugged in London and 8 times more likely in Manchester

The only towns and cities with a lower chance of being assaulted are York, Cambridge, Reading, Colchester and Southend

It has the sixth worst rate for car crime of the 55 towns and cities surveyed.

lol, this thread brings back some memories :rotfl:

the figures make interesting reading. i have to say that i always have felt very safe here, even when out alone late at night - no mean feat for a young woman. we do have a bad problem with car crime in my neck of cardiff, but i think thats as much to do with the fact that we currently own a car which is notoriously easy to break into. you live and learn, we wont be buying one of these again :D

We went to Cardiff recently for a weekend and were very surprised by how friendly the people were and the quality and variety of the shops.
There were a lot of alternative boutique style shops down the alleyways as well as market stores and big shops.

We stayed at the Marriot which had quite a nice spa but went to the Hilton for a massage (as there was a 2for1 offer on). We had a very high quality Elemis massage at the Hilton.
We had not problems with the car but it was parked at the Marriott which was a very nice hotel (and quite quiet at the weekend although a lot of building work around which I suspect might be noisy in the week).
