Yes and that is a disgusting thing to do, sorry there is only one word for them - and it rhymes with scrum
BPA = Tax the sick !Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
You can see why they want the whole NHS in their mucky grip, as they can then try and legitimise themselves. By quoting they act for Britain's largest employer. Rather then what Taffy says tax the sick and the staff of course. The BPA totally destroys its own creditability by allowing its members free hand in anything they seem fit to do.
Near every PPC quotes being a member of the BPA as if it means something. We now have them complaining that we are calling them nasty names. Well Mr Troy if the cap fits your members have to wear it.
If you don't wish to be called anything other then an ethical PPC then instruct your members to act in the way they should. Instead of advising on maximum charging and your signing requirements. Advise and set rules on what your companies invoices can look like, and the wording printed on them. So it does not intimidate the 35% you quote into paying.
However the way they have acted since the cash cow was discovered has now led to their demise, it is coming its just a matter of time, but reading between the lines and them having to resort to complaining to forums over calling them nasty names just confirms what we already know. Their profits are falling, their quoted 35% who pay is being diminished.0 -
I am puzzled. I was a keeper but not the driver of a car which got a parking ticket from a private company (while it was at the garage being serviced). So I genuinely did not know that it was parked illegally or who was driving it at the time.
Not knowing then what I know now, I rang up the PPC to point this out. Did they tell me to pass it on to the garage? No they did not, the woman on the phone - who I was told was their office manager - told me quite specifically, and I now know untruthfully, that as the keeper I was legally liable for the penalty and who was driving it at the time was irrelevant. Only of course that is not true. Basically it was a straight attempt to obtain money by deception and surely amounts to a s--m? The firm concerned incidentally, is a member of the BPA.0 -
Having got the "don't call them nasty names" email I tried to remember if I had referred to a PPC as perpetrating a scam or being cowboys and I genuinely could not recall an occasion when I had done so.
I have referred to them as scum. (Def:-Slang One, such as a person or an element of society, that is regarded as despicable or worthless.) This is my personal view of them and one which I hold owing to the fact that I was lied to by a PPC in trying to extort (Def:-to secure (money, favours, etc.) by intimidation, violence, or the misuse of influence or authority) money from me.
Can I no longer hold this view and express it accordingly?0 -
Lucy they will always be scum and extorter's in my book, and I will continue to use those terms generally about them on here, like Martin Lewis with his cowboys comment its a general term used for the industry, if the said industry wants to take me to task I get the feeling that there will be plenty of people willing to help me , they say the truth hurts

I promise never to call them dirty stinking scamming beneath contempt lying dirt bags again - oops

Of course you were not "parked illegally", as this was on private land and therefore no statute law had been broken. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Just realised, bit thick in the mornings, but there are other sections of the forum where the scam word is tolerated. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2305963
Why are we the only one not allowed to say this?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

Good point, surely calling the industry a scam should be OK, because these company's use lies, untruths, and intimidation to gain from unknowing members of the public. In anybodies eye it is hard to call it anything else.
I think the concern must be when the actual name of the company is used and someone then posts don't pay its a scam.
The whole industry is based on trickery and deceit, I don't think there is a more apt word then the one we are advised not to use!0
