ASDA = Scrooge

Previous years stores have been closed Boxing Day and New Years Day but staff morale has hit rock bottom this year, with stores staying open later on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve until 7pm this year as well to rub salt into the wound ! :eek: The company also does not recognise the Bank Holiday Mon/Tues designated by the state for Xmas/New Year falling at the weekend, Scrooge would be proud of the way the Wal-Mart owned company is treating its staff at their busiest and most stressful time of year !! :mad:
So much for the government banging on about making the Uk more family friendly ??

It seems Asda workers will not be having a very merry Christmas or New Year as some stores will only be shut 1 day - Christmas Day.

Family Friendly? No.
But it's all part of Dave's Big Society, innit? Shops open longer hours = more staff employed = more chilcare needed = even more employed = more tax revenue = more money for trident!LBM:FEB 2008

I said that by opening longer hours they would be employing more staff or doesn't your local shop do that for the holiday time?
And the point you were trying to make is........?
I think you need to look up the phrase "black humour" and try getting a grip!LBM:FEB 2008

Let's hope it will mean they need more staff come the New Year.
My son is working as a Christmas temp in Asda (he's a university student). He's working in Hampshire until 7pm on Christmas Eve and I will be driving there from Essex to collect him to bring him home for Christmas.
His contract finishes on Christmas Eve, but if they were to offer him a permanent job starting Boxing Day, I'd happily drive him back there. Jobs are hard to come by at the moment."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
There's a McColl's in my town centre that atcally opens on Christmas day. Mind you the staff do get paid tripple time for it.0

but i bet you if you went into the shops on those days you would find it busy. Remember not everyone celebrates Christmas to the full anymore and businesses are out to get every penny they can.
No different to the boxing day sales in any other store but strangely your not moaning about that are you?"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -
Well my Dad works at Morrisons, Last year he was expected to work Christmas eve until 8 and then from 6am Boxing day - Didn't get a bean extra for it either. On top of that he's on call on Christmas Day - if the alarm goes off he's gotta go in and turn it off - which happened one year and he got paid a whole £25 for the inconvienceMFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11
