First time I have seen this auction as I couldn't find it before. I see that in the title it is advertised as platinum. Definately worth contacting the assay office - if 950 DIA is the mark for Palladium as mentioned it could be earlier then that is definately 'not as described'.

    950 is one marking.

    DIA is a different marking.

The mark isn't 950 DIA all in one.

Just to answer a few more questions, the seller knew the ring was an illusion set ring, how do I know this, cause the word ILLUSION is handwritten in pen in large capital letters across the box.

Just so everyone understands a solitaire ring, is a diamond set on its own in a claw setting. this ring is a large flat piece of metal within which the diamond is not clearly visible, we had to hold the ring up to the light to try and find the diamond.

When you look at the picture of the ring the seller privided it looks like a solitaire ring, and it is descirbed as a solitaire. this is not what it is. imagine the entire top of the ring is flat metal, with a small chippping embeded into it, if you are under any illusion (excuse the pun) as to what a solitaire ring is please google it, and I can assure a flat lump of metal is not what will come up in the search.

    .

The seller never said it was a 'solitaire ring' though, they said it was...
Very pretty platinum ring with diamond solitaire
and they are correct as the ring has one solitary diamond.

Maybe the seller did know exactly what they were doing, only they know, but if it was me buying it, I'd kick myself and not blame the seller when I could have asked for more info.

Thats a very good point, if they were advertising platinum, and the hallmark says other wise, its clearly and objectively SNAD, so that would be a better line to take, rather than the 'solitaire diamond' which is a more subjective approach, plus they wouldnt let you pay by paypal, that will not impress ebay either!
