Urgent help needed with ebay

Try ringing ebay and explaining to them whats happened and that you were made to pay via transfer and its SNAD. Sometimes they will take pity and refund you off their own backs. I was stung with a item I was made to pay via PO for, when it went wrong Ebay refunded me as a gesture of goodwill..try it.She has the loaded handbag of someone who camps out and seldom goes home, or who imagines life must be full of emergencies..0

I opened up a case against the seller. so will keep you posted.
I cant believe there is people on here trying to justify what this seller has done.
She described the ring as a diamond SOLITAIRE which it is not, it is an illusion set ring the entire top of the ring is metal cut into a star shape to make it look like its a diamond. these are not the same and do not look anything alike.
I wanted a solitaire ring and this is not what I got.
Therefore the item was not as described.0 -

It IS a solitaire though!
A solitaire is a diamond set on it's own, which the ring is. (Solitaire = solitary diamond)
The ring you have just has a bigger mount on it than usual, that's all.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
It was a vague auction lacking in detail admittedly but I still don’t think the seller has done much wrong, they might not have been technically aware of how to describe the ring.
I did notice a bid of £200 had been retracted possibly leaving you the winning buyer.
I still do not believe the seller was deliberately trying to mislead. You believed it was something it was not.
Two important lessons, always pay using Paypal and always understand what you are buying by asking questions.

My engagement ring cost £12.50.
Just thought I would mention, I had a zirconia, and it was fine for me as I wasn't worried about losing it (my mother and my grandmother both lost their first engagement rings) and it looked like I wanted it to. May I recommend variations on Diamonearly. As the listing is so badly worded the seller will surely find it impossible to argue the ring is as described.
The description is far too poor for anyone to know what the ring is. While some people take this mean the buyer cannot argue it is not as described. I take it it to mean it is not possible for the seller to argue it as described.
I would rise a SNAD dispute and in the dispute first make a very strong compliant I was not allowed to pay with PayPal. Getting this part right is very important.
For the SNAD pick what you feel comfortable with. If it was me I would check what DIA means by calling my local Assay Office and if it does not mean diamond state the Hallmarks were not as described. I would be also state the weight were inaccurately described and the diamond was not as pictured.
I would not return the ring unless ebay under write a refund on receipt.0 -

How can the diamond not be as pictured?
Unless the seller photoshopped the picture, the OP is getting exactly what they have paid for.
The seller was honest with the description IMO, they even updated it when they had more info.
I've just had a look inside my engagement ring and it says 'DIA' on it.
Mine is a diamond, I couldn't tell you what size weight or carat it is as I didn't ask my husband, but I don't think Goldsmiths (which is where it was from) set out to con people into buying a diamond that's not a diamond, do you?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

[Your point is correct in so far as my previous words were poor.]
By not describing the casing of ring a reasonable person would assume the picture was of a mounted diamond solitaire as this is the impression the listing and picture gives. This is not the case. The seller did not provide an accurate description and mislead the buyer (and would have mislead any reasonable person).

Do you think the description was accurate and not misleading? If a shop described an item like this what do you think would happen. As far as I am aware the description not only needs to be accurate but is must also not mislead. This was clearly not the case.I've just had a look inside my engagement ring and it says 'DIA' on it.
That does not mean it means diamond as stated in the listing. I do not know what it means which is way the buyer needs to ask the Assay Office.0 -

The seller did not provide an accurate description and mislead the buyer (and would have mislead any reasonable person). Actually what does the listing say? It says it's a very pretty ring with a diamond solitaire. So what do we know from this. That it is a ring, with one diamond in it. What did the OP receive? A ring with one diamond in it.
Do you think the description was accurate and not misleading? I don't think it was misleading at all. I just think it didn't give all the neccessary information someone would need if buying an engagement ring, but surely people wanting to buy an engagement ring, would ask for more information and not rely on one crappy photo? If a shop described an item like this what do you think would happen. As far as I am aware the description not only needs to be accurate but is must also not mislead. This was clearly not the case.

What do you mean, that does not mean it means diamond as stated in the listing?
The listing says :It is fully hallmarked inside, most of it I cannot see but I can see 950 and DIA (diamond)
ETA : Have you actually seen the listing?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
You are allowed a lot of margin in listings and you are right buyers must be aware of their responsibility to ask questions. But you go too far if you think you can list an illusion ring and not state the fact but instead imply it is something else.
If the listing is the one without a postal cost so the buyer cannot automatically send PayPal payment then yes I have seen it.
I do not follow what you mean about the hallmarks a previous post in this thread suggested DIA did not mean diamond.0
