    I am less than happy

DS and GF were messing about on one of the sofas - sort of play fighting - but not for long
    the sofa back has broken
the sofas were bought earlier this year and I haven't even finished paying for them yet
DS is, at the top of his voice, insisting it wan't him
I was in the room at the time - I know full well it was them. But what good will shouting do.
    I feel like crying

here I am trying to make a nice home for my family and I get landed with this !!!!!! - DS juast does not relaise how 'strong' he is. In amongst all the shouting he's insisting he didn't break his bed - or the previous sofa. I know full well he did.

How bloody hard is it to say you are sorry when something you did not intend to happen happens?

Would someone please convey this concept to Mr LW?;););):D:D:D

Mumof2 Hey, it takes a brave woman to say "well, I tried it, but it's not for me thank you, now I'm going to find something better to do". (((HUG)))

Oh Muddy One:D Happy Belated Birthday; really sorry, I honestly didn't realise til just now. *grovel*:D

I finished this week's tasks at about midday, but have only just got around to looking at Fred. That's because, as you correctly surmised Toots, Sidney has arrived.:T

He's settled in as if he owns the place, has decluttered most of his dinner (which looks and smells very bland - it's one of these special vets diets that probably tastes like cardboard), and we've re-aquainted him with walking alongside the scooter.:D He's now sprawled on the sofa.:D

  • valli huge (((hugs))) angel - what a PITA!!!!!! if its less than a year old could you claim faulty goods? you would have expected it to withstand a bit of play fighting. I remember how chuffed you were getting them so can feel your pain at DS. Just tell him straight that you know its him and until he learns a bit of respect for your things he will be treated like the child that he is acting like- stop his pocket money- ground him - anything that will cause him 'pain' and he must earn back your respect and the privilege of sharing your nice home IYSWIM - (cant get what i am trying to say down on 'paper' correctly)
would it be an option for him to stay with his father for a spell and would it make any difference?

you need LSB to give you a big cuddle.
    toots xx
    Peace will be mine
could do better - must try harder

    xx

A good attitude to adopt Mumof2. I have told my kids (grown up they may be - but they still like their gifts!) that this Christmas is on a shoestring. I shall do Dinner and that's about it. They will get presents, but not big ones. And not half as many as they had last year. Times is hard....

Huge hugs Valli xxxxx To me, it sounds like the sofa that broke was not of a suitable quality. If it's back breaks after someone, say, sitting down on it heavily ( ;) ) and you paid for it within the last 12 months, then the manufacturers need to compensate..

TBH Toots they were squabbling over biscuits and flung themselves at it - both pushing on the back at one side
I shouted at them to stop, told them they'd break the sofa then, after GF left, realised the back was not as vertical as it had been, if that makes sense, so gently 'wobbled' it and yes, broken.

The advice was never to push the back when moving it, but to push lower down so i think i am probably on a loser with a claim to manufacturer but I might pop in to the retailer and try (co-op - so might be lucky)
failing that I could try an insurance claim -
what I really need is someone who walks up to furniture and sits down on it!
It just really p1sses me off when I am trying to keep the house nice.

I know though, it's nothing realy, in the great scheme of things - but his damage list (accidental and deliberate) is quite soemthing really!

    accident
greenhouse panes (grandparents handed DS a golf club and a golf ball - I blamed them)
bath (threw toy in as a toddler, cracked it)
    3 seater sofas (2 - can't break smaller, cheaper 2 seaters!)
    bed

    deliberate
car seat - DS investigating effect of cigarette lighter (in car type) hole burnt in. Lost his pocket money for over a year for that one - cost of replacement cover and fitting of same

I know it was an accident - but it REALLY wouldn't kill him to apologise

    Read Soappie's post with interest...

I don't give him pocket money - I pay his mobile bill though

GF doesn't know it broke yet - suppose I ought to tell her as I doubt DS will. Ironically HER parents have just had a new sofa. Doubt he'd go andf live/stay with his dad unless I actually threw him out.

I had made stuffed baked nectarines and wouldn't let him have any

(stuffed with a 'crumble' made from butter, amaretti biscuits, brandy, egg yolk, vanilla extract and sugar)

nectarine were whoopsied at 9p for 4!

Valli.. it doesn't get better.. DS1 came round 'forgot' he was holding a full pint glass and smashed it all over the kitchen floor. He put his foot through the pane of glass in the bedroom window, his hand through the bedroom door glass.. and had to have op to fix it.. (thankfully it is his right hand so he will never be able to join the armed forces as he has permanent nerve damage.. yes that makes me happy.. in a way..) he twice smashed 120 year old spindles on the stairs. within 3 weeks had smashed a hole in the plasterboard wall in the bathroom.. 'to see if he could!'.. it has been like it for 3 years now. He starved 3 fish to death.. I rescued 1 :D.. He lost 3 phones in 5 days, ran up 2 £300 phone bills.. (partly my fault I know..) honestly, if I had had just him it would have been no less work.. he has been harder than ALL the others put together! ... accidental damage amounts to crockery breakages and that's about it.. he once headbutted a wall after a few 'pops' and claimed someone hit him with an axe.. honestly he was/is a nightmare...

  • Valli - I can't add anything useful as its all been said so huge hugs for you - I would of wanted to sit and cry

Mumof2 - do what you think is best for you - DH will see sense in the end - they always do - it just takes them longer - hugs for you too

List - none done today - had to go to Docs with Dad, he is now waiting for a hosp app to have a camera put down him and his liver investigated - not looking too good and my Mum is stressing out over anything and everything cos she's worried so its all very emotional one way or another here and my kiddies are not aware of how serious it is - they love Grandad to bits but I can't cope at the moment with telling them how poorly Grandad is so they think he is feeling under the weather but thats it. When the hosp arrange his app and we get some results then I'll decide what to tell them. Doc has asked for an extra urgent app so we should hear next week about when he has to go in. Anyway...... more flying tomorrow as kiddies are at their Dads on Sunday and DH will be working so I want to wrap as much as poss and do a final list of who has got what.

Love, hugs and spoons to all even if you don't want them

    Morning All

Lots to do today and I'm supposed to be going shopping this afternoon with my mate and I may pop out this morning as well. I have a mountain of ironing, dishes need doing, everywhere needs hoovering, keys still haven't been found and everywhere needs tidying generally. Tomorrow is the district Beaver party in the afternoon so I will be playing party games with 100+ beavers.

Not sure whether to start with a HHI or the dishes - ironing really needs doing as the pile is getting higher and the clothes are getting dog hairs on them as the basket is on the floor in the LR.

    Have a good day all

    Hugs
