Evening fishface,I've got off to a bad start this new year, got this big feeling of dread come over me,been low all day thinking that something terrible is going to happen soon.I have been fairly positive about our debt up until now,but have this awful feeling things are going to come crashing downfishface-69 wrote:Happy new year long haulers! How is everyone doing? I've started the new year feeeling enthused but possibly a bit more realistic than I was last year! Still a long way to go & this year I'm going to focus on paying off the CC's (again!). How are you all feeling about 2007?
creditors have been very quiet lately, which is good, but think they may start pestering again as the anniversary of the DMP comes around next month,a couple still haven't agreed to the DMP,so unsure of what the new year will bring?
Maybe when things get back to normal, all decs come down, kids back at school, things will look brighter

Hi all,
Hey, great news! I looked at my DFD again and realised that I had not taken into account the fact that as I clear one debt that will leave more cash to apply to the others, so my new revised DFD is......
2028 !!!
Wow, I've shaved 17 years off the DFD in the space of one evening - only 21 years to go, childs play.
Debt free just in time to collect my pension.
All the best

Oh dear seems like the Jan blues have set in....esp big hugs for livinginhope & looby. Just think what things would have been like if you hadnt sorted it all eh? At least this way you're sorting your money.
As for the debt free dates they're a bit depressing aren't they eh! By the time I get to mine I'll be in my 40's & it just reminds me how totally stupid I was with money before! Not a bad thing though in my case as I do err, even as a DFW, towards being a shopaholic! Just trying to get my kicks other ways (pigsback, quidco, freecycle & car boots!) & actually enjoy that more than I did when I spent 1000 more a month than I had!
It is hard at Christmas as so much to do & this year I found quite odd as it took ages to get here then seemed to go really quickly. Just me?!
Great debt 23 that this inspired you & then gave huge excitement with recalculations! Us DFW's know how to live eh! Great news & I'm sure a huge relief for you.
Chin up folks, its a new year & Jan always a cack month as we're all so exhausted from Christmas (or in my case the worst cold I ever had!) & its cold, wet & miserable. Get those cheap tesco bubbles out, have a nice soak, change the sheets (notning like getting into clean sheets when your clean with clean pj's & its free!!) & start afresh tomorrow.Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Hi everyone
I'm playing the long game too  I'm trying to start the new year with some focus, which is usually quite elusive for me! I've not worked out a proper dfd, partly because I really don't want to see how long it's going to take and partly because I pay off slightly different amounts each month. But I've decided that I want to be debt free by the time I'm 30 at the very latest - which gives me under 3 and a half years.
Keep going everyone

Thanks fishface,I will be mid '90's by the time I'm debt free !!!eek!!! I have been trying to look on the DMP payment as just one of the essential utility bills, think that's the only way I won't actually crack up! I feel a little more positve about things now that things are returning to normal,I always get depressed at new year, think that's why I have been feeling low,my chins are definately looking up.
Happy new year

Hi folks, i have just been reading this thread. Until now I have been just been browsing the forum (which is probably the most useful and brillant I can find on the web) and reading everyone's posts for advice and help. I wanted to add my support to everyone who is "in it for the long haul". I am on a DMP worked out to 55 years, which will take me to 2059 - I will be 89!!. I am trying to stay positive about this, but I agree it does get you down at times, but I think we need to remind ourselves that we have had the courage to face our debt and do something constructive about it. Well, thats what I keep telling myself.0

thanks fishface, I know you are right, it just all seems such a long long way away.
I paid my first payment on my DMP today, which has left me totally skint for the rest of the week, not even any money for shopping this week. Luckily I've got some reduced price bargains I got over Christmas/new year in the freezer and a MIL who always buys too much for Christmas and passes it on to us
I know it won't always be this hard, the DMP will help me manage my money so much better, it's just bad timing when the first payment was due.
or at least that's what I keep telling myself.
£93 down £8113 to go lol
(until all my creditors wack their late fees on
) 0
