What a great thread, FF. It can feel like a life sentence when your debt free date is years in the future. All I can offer is encouragement - you've faced up to your debt, got yourself a plan and a debt free date, all of which is excellent. You've found this site so that you'll have support and encouragement when you're feeling despondent, and advise when you need it, which is all invaluable.

It does get better and the day does come when it's all over, meanwhile you've learned a lot about yourself and taught yourself some very useful lessons for the future and will have much to be proud of. It is a long haul, but you'll do it.

    Best wishes.

I'm stuck with a loan until 2010 too. Plus I've really been lax recently as all my attention has been devoted to work these last couple of months and so my credit card debt seems to be creeping upwards all over again. Bit of a nightmare. But, I'm in a better position now than I would have been had I not found this site for which I'm truly grateful.

I was thinking earlier (promted by the debt free roll of honour thread). Wouldn't it be great if we could have a DFW calendar with all our debt free dates on it? That way we can keep an eye on everyone's progress and celebrate each time someone achieves their goals. Not sure how it could be done but I just thought how nice it would be. :D

  • My hubby doesn't want us to have kids because we can't afford it. I'm 35 and being this much in debt has put paid to us ever having kids really. If I stopped work, or went part time, he couldn't cover the household stuff AND my debts.

    It sucks.
I may be skint but at least I'm Relentlessly Positive! :D

What were you thinking of fishy? A chart which tracks our progress (like we used to have on the weeble challenge)? I could possibly start one in annual stages but will have to hang on until I get the next couple of weeks out of the way at work. Let me know anyway!

Ho hum, it's 4.48 on a Sunday and I am off to work in a mo. Lovely stuff :o
