Ooo - I love this thread. I haven't read it all, but really inspired to see that I won't be the only one still trying to pay off their debts beyond retirement (ok, once boys leave him DFD should change).
Thanks for a great thread FF!

Happy new year long haulers! How is everyone doing? I've started the new year feeeling enthused but possibly a bit more realistic than I was last year! Still a long way to go & this year I'm going to focus on paying off the CC's (again!). How are you all feeling about 2007?

    Hey Fishy

    Happy New Year hun

I'm feeling positive, but realistic about 2007. I know I will still be in debt at the end of the year, but I intend to pay off as much as I possibly can.

I have a shiny new spending diary, sat here waiting to be used (no spend day today)

We have enough food in the cupboards to last us possibly a couple of months, if not longer. Just fresh stuff like bread, eggs, milk, fruit and veg to buy.

My OH and I have agreed today to be a lot stricter with ourselves, and really cut back wherever possible. He has even agreed to us cancelling Sky. :T

    How are you doing?

  • Hi everyone - mind if I join this thread? Having lurked for a while and made a couple of posts in the last couple of days, and having had my LBM last month, I am determined to do get to grips with my debt before it spirals out of control. I feel really positive now having read lots of posts (dread to think how many hours I've spent on here but at least I'm not spending money!) but with my DFD not until 2011 (and that's assuming that I will be able to meet the overpayments) I am not sure how realistic this all is. I am positive now but will it stay that way? Hoping that by joining in this thread I will see that I'm not the only one in this boat so will keep plodding along.

Will update my signature later to include details of my debt but it's around £38,000 eek.
Proud to be dealing with my debts

HEY PEPYS! Dont panic Kate & welcome - many of us long haulers are in the same boat & its good to have company as we pay it off!! My total is about 32,000 at the moment but down over 5000 since April & know I can do better this year!
Hiya spud! Been a bit up & down money wise! I got some money from my granny, had a car accident then spent too much so am now back on track & start the year feeling v.positive & 100 times happier than I was this time lasy year. Like you I know I can do better & plan to & am very happily sorting my allotment & now have the tools I need so there shouldnt be too much expense! Also have loads in (doing the storecup challenge & Moozies Sun-Fri! for motivation!) so hopefuly not loads to spend this month!!

I'm going to be hanging around for a long time too. I've just started a DMP with cccs and it's expected to take about 9 years _pale_

and even that date is only as long as all my creditors agree to the cccs proposals. ATM I'm on benefits so the amount I can pay back per month is very limited, but hopefully in the not too distant future I'll be able to go back to work and pay it all off a bit faster.

    2016 is totally depressing :(

I'm here for the longer term too. Just imagine how well we will know each other by the time we have finished!!!!

It does us good to have a thread like this where we can see that we are not the only one who has got into this situation - I am sure you have all had times when that is exactly the way that it feels!

We will get there, and we will have some laughs along the way.

    Hi all,

This thread prompted me to work out my DFD......

It's not 100% accurate, but based on my DIY DMP it comes out at 2045 !

Now if I could just work out how to add a signature to my posts, I could include that along with my debt total.

DFD seems worst than most, but not as high as some, so there we have it I suppose.

Of course, if I win the lottery.......

    All the best
