I know SS. I agree that Team Hoyt are truly inspirational. Having a bit of trouble with the 'can' myself at the moment though. Things have changed for me since I first watched that clip. You - only you- will have stars that can laugh :rotfl:

I'm another "long hauler". My original DFD at my LBM in August was October 2013 and that was without taking my overdraft into account!
By using my annual bonus (paid in Sept and used only for debt repayment for the first time) and some savings as well as cutting back on expenditure and living within my means I have brought this down to September 2011 and have paid off my OD.
My goal is November 2010 (or earlier obviously if I can) so will welcome the mutual support, encouragement and tips.
Miss CutiePie - IVA and DMPs aren't suitable for everyone. Like everything in life they have conseqences which I personally do not find acceptable. That's not meant as a reflection on anyone else - we all got into debt in different ways and for differing reasons so there are bound to be different solutions for us to become DF. Because I am older than most of the posters here (though sadly no wiser!) I have assets such as a house which is almost mortgage free so for me the best route is to pay off my debts as quickly and cleanly as I can. I've never had any problem with making minimum payments but it took this site to make me realise what that really means. My whole outlook towards spending and debt has changed thanks to this site.
Hoping I will achieve the first NSD this week today.
My plan is that by 2010 I will be so used to living on a tight though realistic budget that I will be able to divert my debt payment monies into savings.
Onwards and upwards together !Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
My loan ends 2010...so I am in it for a while too! Gutted.
However although I hate having a loan, I am grateful for lots of other things along the way and appreciative that my situation could be a whole whole lot worse....so, just keep plugging away month after month!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly

So pleased its not just me! RE IVA etc I chose not to for a number of reasons; mainly that I got myself into this & feel I should sort it out if I can without wiping out parts of the debt. IVA/bank etc also has a knock on effect on others cos its got to be paid for somehow! and finally I'm determined to do it! I know its going to be hard, there are days/months when it goes pear shaped BUT so far I've changed so much for tackling my debt.I've rediscovered joy in simple things like making cheese on toast (could have done without the burnt but though!!), cooking, getting my allotment. I now squeal with delight at finding a bargain & watching things sell on ebay/green metropolis; found out who my friends are and most of all am honestly happier & less depressed than I ever was when I was spending over 1000 a month more than my income....I really do look forward to the journey ahead and sharing it with you. We all know there will be a massive DFW party for each & every of us when we get there, DFW style of course!! (Tesco champagne!)! Big squidgy hugs for you all.Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0
