I know how you all feel even before I came on this site we had always been in debt..BUT at least we do all have a date for parole now
I really admire all those of you who don't have a lot to throw at your debts each month but still insist on putting every spare penny toward them.We all fall off the wagon and hit rough patches and there are times when I too think..this isn't a life!!! Thankfully though with this forum and especially this DFW board there is always someone around day or night to pick you up,dust you off and help you start again. You have all done the hardest thing by facing up to your debts I remember the shock I felt when I actually tallied up just how much we owed  The people on here are so special and hopefully even people who lurk and don't post gain valuable help from them.I think even when we do get debtfree this'll still be home for me :T 0 -
I only owe £16,000 but its going down so agonisingly slowly that I think its going to take years. I always have some expense that comes up and stops me from paying very much off each month. For instance this month, car service MOT & two new front tyres, car tax, dentist, hair cut. All necessary but that doesnt help. Soon it will be Christmas.

Always good to know you're not alone in having overspent hugely!! Doesent help that I've been feeling poorly (flu & now tummy) so off work & have so much to do...just seem to sleep!! Nights drawing in & clocks change which I always find a bit depressing as loathe getting up/coming home in the dark! Sorry will stop moaning!! The only way is up & as you've all said at least the debts are being paid off!! Plus have discovered the joy of cooking & love finding bargains! Got a book I've wanted for a while (gardeining) for 99p which I was dead chuffed at! Top banana!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Ok longhaulers....my strategy for now is simple...pay off the CC's first & then investigate whether its best to transfer full loan amount x 1 to cc cos at least then I'll feel like I'm paying stuff off! May not be worth it though as frontloaded interest on both loans but over 500 a month and feel like I'm pedalling nowhere. Still, got a bit to pay off before I have to worry about it!! I did realise recently (during blip!) tha if I have money in savings account it lulls me into a false sence of securoty so lesson learned there! What strategies are you all using to get you throguh & what have you learned so far?Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

F/F hope you're feeling a bit better. Try a hot toddy if you're feeling lousy. Lemon juice, honey, sugar and whisky then get to bed, open the windows to let the bugs out, drink plenty of fluids and take paracetamol. Works wonders!
