it's been really bad here - the snow is higher than my wellies - so i am hotdesking in a different office today....

there's one woman at work who seems to be really funny about it - but there are no buses, and i'd rather walk for half an hour the 2 hours each way.... hey ho.

i still need to do my christmas shopping as whn i popped to town last night everything seemed to be shut. so i picked up a pizza for tea, and went home.

i still need to have a proper tidy round, which i will do tonight when i get in, then tomorrow and sunday i will put my Christmas tree up, and cook a few ready meals for through the week...

i might even write a proper shopping list for Tuesday...

  • Good morning all,

My goodness its freezing here! Little more snow yesterday afternoon and looked like it was really trying but soon gave up :D Poor DD had a little red nose and started getting upset once at school because she was sooooo cold :(:( :shirt, jumper, skirt (still refusing trousers),tights, socks, wellies, winter coat, hat, scarf and gloves and still cold,my poor darling!! Luckly her dad is picking her up so he'll have the car. Not too icy under foot but you do need to be careful just in case. Treated myself to a bottle of red for tonight,i dont need to go out again today and dont intent too (well meant to have drinks with the girlies but Bbbbrrrr)!

All i want to do is snuggle under my duvet and watch cheese tv but housework calls. Need to change and wash bed clothes, hoover upstairs, bit of dusting here and there and really should get on and sort through DD's toys other than that just a general tidy round.

HM soup is a must for lunch and left over pasta dish from last night for dinner as its just me tonight...and of course a glass of wine!

Hope everyones warm and snuggly today x

Freezing here today as well and there is a problem with my heating and the boiler is only a year old :( thankfully we have insurance for it. DH is on the phone to the help desk now and hopefully they can send someone out today. I couldn't stand a weekend with no heating.

 They can't come out till Monday:eek: I will have to go to town and get a gas bottle for the calor heater, we used it up yesterday.

Dinner tonight is Mince and tatties with dumplings.

Well DH is ready to take us down

    keep safe x

I made my plans fore the day before looking out of the window this morning.......change of plan now due to the fact its snowing and has been for a couple of hours. DD is quite happy at that as she was reluctant to get out of her PJ's

I do need to get out and get my car tax ...it ran out the other day and I've been waiting on the insurance company sending out my certificate of insurance as I didnt get one when I renewed the policy last month.

I will venture out when the DS2 comes in - leave DD with him and see how far I get but if the snow keeps coming down like it is might just stay in!

Here's a heads-up to any parent of a 17 year old autistic chap..if you are stuck half in and half out of the loft with an 8' Christmas tree and you shout 'HELP ME!!!!' don't expect him to have even looked up from watching Takeshi's Castle and downloading Rosie and Jim on your phone when you finally make it down. Said DS has been sent home a day early from school because 'some students might not be able to get home tomorrow (today) if it's icy'. Yes, but we live a mile away... Anyway, that's why we're decorating early. DS has no interest whatsoever, needless to say. Today is freezing weather, still about 5" snow outside. I've had to cancel so many MS jobs, yesterday because of the snow and no car, today because DS can't stay at home alone (bit of a pyromaniac apart from anything else). And on top of that my lovely car can't be mended so it's going to have to be scrapped. It's been a great car and took us all over when the kids were all small but I don't really need a 7 seater any more. Still sad though. Will have to go food shopping when OH gets home. Tomorrow is an Autism-Friendly showing of a film at our local 'arty' cinema. I'm taking DS so I hope he gets more out of it than last time we went to the flicks - he was very bored and groaned, made stupid noises and farted all the way through 'Monsters'. What larks!!!
  • Morning all :)

I can't believe it's colder here than in Montreal! :rotfl: Still no snow here (damn sea!) but the dock has completely frozen over. Roads don't look icy though. I wanted to go out later to visit my parents/nan's and to Tesco as I haven't got much food in.

Jet lag seems to be ok. I had a short nap yesterday afternoon but then didn't actually go to sleep til 2am. Slept right through til 10.30am though :T. I do feel hungry though but want to start back on my diet today so need to have Slimming World friendly meals, luckily I have some eggs in and soup in freezer.

So....Montreal.....it's a fab city! When we got there on Friday it was snowing - proper soft swirly snow. We got to our hotel and went to check in but our room wasn't available  we were asked to come back in an hour (and this was at 7pm!). They were very apologetic, stored our bags and gave us a gift voucher for $25 to go have dinner nearby. When we got back after a yummy free dinner our original room still wasn't ready so they upgraded us to a suite instead  It was lovely. The walk in closet was huge! I have a friend who now lives in Canada with her OH and they were driving up from Toronto to meet us but due to the snow they were gonna be getting in after midnight so we had to go to sleep as we were knackered :( but we arranged to meet for breakfast. When they checked in she text me her room number, they were put next door to us! This is a huge Marriot with 26 floors, and we did not request this, purely coincidence :rotfl:

So we meet up with them Sat at the free breakfast. Breakfast was amazing!! It was still snowy so we went out to explore the city. Had a few snowball fights :D Sat pm my friend's OH went to meet friends and dropped us off at the old Olympic Stadium. We explored there, went up the Tower etc. Sat night we stayed in, watched movies and had a girly night (hotel gave free microwave popcorn :D). Sunday we went to the Notre-Dame Basilica to have a look at it, beautiful building. this is in Old Montreal, so we explored there too afterwards, and even went on a horse&cart tour! Sunday night, my friend's OH re-joined us and we went to the Casino for the night. We had a lovely time, I didn't bet much as I haven't got a clue, but I won $8 on a slot machine :j.

The rest of the time was spent Christmas shopping, sightseeing and we had a trip to a day spa. It felt very Christmassy there, their decorations are amazing! My friend told us she has set the date for her wedding, March 2012, and it will be in the Bahamas - woooooooohooooooooo! And she has asked me to be her Maid of Honour :A I've never been a bridesmaid or anything before! She will be getting married 2 weeks before my/her 30th birthdays (we are 4 days apart) so it will be an extra celebration.

I've taken lots of brilliant pictures but I'm having trouble uploading them to Facebook :( will try and sort this out today, going to post on Techie board.

OS wise - WM is on, I do have another load to go in but think I'll leave this til tomorrow as I have limited drying space. I want to clean fridge, as it's emty-ish now! I need to do a food shop also.

Sorry for waffling! Have a great day all, keep warm!

  • Still snowed in:(
I am due to go and get my dress picked up tomorrow....will not get the car out of 2 ft of snow. I will prob have to go on bus and try it on, make sure it is ok then pick it up with the car one day next week before wedding:eek:. I hate leaving things to last minute.
DS school opened at 10 but we live at the bottom of a hill and some of the 2 ft of snow has turned to ice as it ws -16 earlier. So keeping him off:o
He is very wound up and shouting about why he should be able to have a set of real traffic lights in the house;)
fish and chips for tea tonight if they have any fish in:cool: Apparently the local supermarket has no milk, bread, fruit or veg or meat.
Doing some tidying shortly. May try to venture out to local church cafe later to see the christmas trees they have decorated......thats if it is open.
Going to ring bridal shop now to see if my dress and veil are even there!!!!!
