Or is the point of the the Interviewing to work out adjustment factors to the main Census data for potential inaccuracy in certain household types in certain areas that your random Interviewing is likely to show up a pattern for?

    Yep that's it!

Places like old peoples homes etc had special collectors to get their data, so they should be accurate already.

Based on the postcodes I've seen in my area it is purely random. I've got one in a fairly eldery population area, one in a slightly more run down area, and another in a pretty much professional working area. I don't think it's a coincidence that we're interviewing 1% of the households, but if in that 1% we find 200 people that were missed on the census forms that householders filled in purely by mistake then one may assume that there are another 200,000 in the UK than they first thought.

I'm sure the maths won't be so straight forward though :)

I was talking about the Collector role in my earlier post and not commenting on the usefulness of the Interviewer role. I do realise that the Interviewer role is designed to get a further more detailed picture from a certain small percentage of households that complete the main questionnaire.

Also whilst I have criticised the recruitment competence and efficiency of Capita extensively in this thread I so support the whole concept of there being a once every 10 year Census even though Cameron seems to think he can scrap it all and made do with The Big Society instead.

    Oh right, Sorry :)

Do we get a telephone allowance automatically, or do we have to claim for it?

Last year i read 1 million people declined to fill in there census, and only 43 where prosecuted because they where stupid enough to give out there names. This year i've heard that 7 million have refused to date.

All i'd do is write on the envelope 'No Contract, Return To Sender'.

Of course the Census envelopes don't have return addresses on them, So they'll end up being shredded (as with all mail without a return address)

Why would you fill in 30+ Pages of your sensitive, Personal Information, So this information can be used for the government, They sell this information onto 3rd parties (Read up about the Lockheed Martin situation).

    - It is only a statuary requirement to fill it in, A statue is a legislative rule of society, given the force of law, By consent of the government, I wouldn't consent. And its not a law its a rule of society, A law is common law. How do parliament attain there power to write a statue ? Through the consent of the people who vote them into power, I didn't vote for any governments so therefore that statue doesn't apply to myself.

The Office for National Statistics ONS website points out that the UK is an active participant in an EU Census Legislation Task Force. In 2008 the European Parliament approved a Council Census Regulation, The information gathered in the 2011 census will be shared across all 27 Member States of the EU.

    Make your choice.

Nothing on the census that you wouldn't fill in every year for car insurance - and they DEFINITELY sell that info on. The Census doesn't.

It says in the interviewer handbook that we get it automatically. It's £10.40.

The census is held every 10 years. So the above doesn't make sense - there was no census last year, so 1 million people couldn't have declined to fill it in.

At least take the time to check the basic facts before posting tin-hatted paranoid ramblings.

Well the role of CCS Interviewer starts on Monday. Since I first applied for the role in January I did not foresee such a long drawn out process that a short months worth of employment would entail. However I stuck with it. My main gripe on the eve of starting is thus WHO IS MY TEAM MANAGER?? Let me explain I undertook a days classroom training which to be honest was a bit of a shambles.
Much of the early part of the day was registering passports, utility bills and proof of address which as they already had our ID cards available to hand out did seem pretty pointless as for on only took my birth certificate along (no photo)?

We were supposed to be introduced to our leader, who would pair us off into teams, explain details of our patch and such like. However he withdrew from the role the day before!! Our session was taken by the Regional Manager a slightly nervous chap who unfortunately was not a clued up on the whole process as his role should have demanded. I was only towards the end of a long drawn out day were we even shown the areas that we would be working and asked to pair off/pick where we wanted to work. I wouldn't say there was much of a "team" atmosphere in the class more questions than answers!

I did "pair" of with someone from the next street, more by luck than judgement. Well got the hi-vis, loads of paperwork and a big bag.

ALL I NEED NOW IS A CALL FROM MY LEADER TO EXPLAIN WHAT THE HELLS GOING ON.
