Its interesting to see, on youtube and facebook, so many people against the census..and so many people so much more aware of what is really going on with this then the ignorant DUMB census people that are filmed...LOL..this is how it goes..

"do you realise that Lockheed Martin, an arms manufacturer is actually running this census? That it was farmed out by the govt for £230 MILLION POUNDS.."..

    census person.."um..no, I didn't know that....are you refusing to comply?"..iM A ROBOT, I'M A ROBOT, I'M A ROBOT..

non compliant person.."no, I am not refusing, I would just like more info on this.then I will happily return the forms."

census person.."oh, so you are refusing, I will mark you down as refusing.."

non compliant person.."NO, I am not refusing..I would just like more info.."

So, as there seem to be actual census people on this forum, can you PLEASE explain why you do not know this vital piece of info..or is it, you are told to act ignorant and uninformed?..Which actually I suspect IS the case.."don't let the sheeple know anything, act stupid, act like you do not know and absolutely DO NOT get involved with any conversation regarding LM..they may be filming ya!"

Actually, it is not a legal document and anything addressed to "the occupier" is total fiction.

So, instead of bully boy tactics and scaremongering with nonsense fines to get people to fill it in..why don't the govt offer financial incentives to fill it in? It would have saved the govt £230 MILLION..just give it to the people, then you wouldn't need to spend out even more money on bully boys knocking at your door..!

It's all a complete load of NONSENSE, all this shenanigans just to get personal info..and may I ask, exactly WHERE this info is going...especially dubious as it is run by an AMERICAN TERRORIST ORGANISATION..

Hope you lot are proud of yourselves getting involved in such a pathetic job..wouldn't you rather spend your time more fruitfully? Maybe spend time with your family instead of knocking on innocent people's doors, who's only CRIME is to want to keep their person info..personal?

Glad to see the gestapo is alive and kicking in 2011 in democratic GB!

In regard to the jsa scam, I don't get it... Heres why.

Your saying that you finish work one week, you can't claim the next week because your still in contact, but your holiday pay doesn't cover that full week.

To keep it simple, lets say your last working day is a monday, you are in contact till friday, and you are paid for holidays, but your only due 2 days holidays, which will cover tuesday and wednesday.

Going by what your saying, you believe you would be out of pocket for the thursday/friday?

I don't see why, just make your claim from the thursday, it doesn't matter because you are no longer working, and you have taken your holidays. If you are no longer working and meet the conditions for jsa then claim, if you wait till after the official contact end date and loose out then thats your fault.

If you do decide to claim after the official end date, remember jsa is a 7 day benefit, claim from the saturday. That meens contact jcp on the friday before, not on the monday, as I can't see you getting it backdated because 1: not knowing isn't a valid reason and 2: if you weren't actually working on the friday then you have no valid reason why you couldn't contact them then.

As I understand the census contacts the holiday pay is paid as if you were taking holiday time off, rather than holiday pay/pilon accrued and due when a contact is terminated early, so you need to claim as soon as the holiday days have ended

To be eligible for JSA you have to be available for work. If you're contracted to the ONS till 13th May , you're officially not available for work till 14th May.

As things have turned out , i'll be doing the additional work Saturday/Sunday/Monday. Should earn just about enough not to be much worse off for not being able to claim for period 7th to 13th May.

A couple of days ago i spoke to a couple of my colleagues who had also come off JSA to work on the Census. Both had automatically assumed that they would be able to make a new claim from 7th May as the work was finishing on 6th May.

I'm afraid thousands of Census workers across the country are going to be in for a nasty shock when they try to make a new claim from tomorrow. That's why i made my initial post urging them to go for the additional work being offered.

I'm not ignorant, a robot, gestapo or dumb and do not feel i have been involved in a pathetic job, i will enjoy spending the £1000 plus i earned with my family.
You are very contradictory - frothing at the mouth that the information is being collected at one point but then also suggesting it would be ok if people were paid for it.
I'm only sorry to see you have so much time on your hands to post such tripe, you really should try getting out more.

The only problem is is that the extra days means you won't get paid for your extra hours (this Saturday/Sunday/Monday until the 20th May (i'm not on jobseekers but know abit about it) as it will be a new week and you will (i should imagine) only be able to put in a claim form next Friday for them.

It should catch up with itself though as when you started work on the 6th April the last jobseekers pay would have been Monday 4th for that week (i guess) which lasted you until the 10th April then you would have been paid for the census on the 15th April. Because we are being paid a week after we worked (which is what they all do) you will finish today (the 6th) and get paid on the 13th (which on the full time hours including the bonus and holiday pay will come out around 500 quid before tax (will be more if you live in London). You should then (i imagine) be able to claim on that Friday as technically your not working that day as the holiday pay works out around 2 and a half days ish and everything else should then be upto date so you can put in a claim (i think but i'm not sure)

At the end of the day most things in government are posted out to another source. Most things in government are linked (look at what Cameron said about giving his neighbours work trials:

    http://www.headlinenewsbureau.com/siterun_data/news/politics/doc536b2b004c7140e384be74fa63dd1eb1.html

They all do it, and no matter what any of us say they will do it.

I'm happy with it. At the end of the day the government does have a lot of data about us already, but this is the one way to correlate it as much cannot be passed over due to data protection laws and the like. It will benefit us in the long term as it all needs to be planned for. The form took all of 20 minutes max to fill in and then thats it for the next 10 years (i hope they do it again).

For your information we were only told that the ONS were the employers and given information about how to go on with our job. The vast majority of households I have spoken to have agreed, and I, as we all have, have been employed to answer other peoples questions about why they should fill it in and how it benefits them. This in the guardian is interesting:

'Census data, argues the Office of National Statistics, is vital to decisions including central funding for the devolved and local authorities; policy development and planning by some 40,000 government and government-related bodies, at all levels, in key fields such as housing, transport, education and health; and for an enormous amount of social research, corporate strategy and charity campaigning. The census remains, it adds, the "most extensive source of demographic and social statistics available in the UK today", unique in both detail and consistency because it aims to cover every person usually resident in the country on a single night.'

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/mar/10/census-2011-do-we-need-it

As it was pointed out to us, there is a place in London who very few filled in their census form. For the past 10 years they have struggled to get funding as as far as their council is aware there is less people there than are actually in the area.

People were fined last time due to not filling it in (mainly through resistance).

As for being muppets and the like, think what you like but at the end of the day we were here to do a job and we have done it to the best of our ability and the vast majority of people have filled it in as they realise the impact it will have on everything in the future.

You should be fine, I certainly didn't have my booklet in advance and the e-learning was thorough enough to cover everything. Apparently there is an online copy of the booklet if you want to try and find that, but I managed it without.
