Was pretty shocked to be honest, even more so when she came out with a piece of paper telling me to fill it in to make an appointment (which i would have happily done) only to be told before i did that she wouldn't fill it in regardless. Other than that one not had a bad reception at all really.
several have attempted to refuse, but i got my cellphone out, switched on the record and said to them "so just to be quite clear on this, you are refusing to fill in the census form?" they backed down pretty quickly
there are interviewer roles going in my areas so i've applied. only 2 x 25 and 2 x 15 hrs though0 -

Maybe because not everyone will stay the course? Most people, including me, are only available for a short period of time whilst waiting for full-time work. In fact if something had come up whilst I was doing the CC role I wouldn't have been available for the CCS one.NonGeographicalMan wrote: »Who in their right mind for instance would apply for the role of Interviewer alone given the tiny total number of hours of employment vs all the hassle of Siftability, telephone interview, online learning, classroom training and CRB checks before actually getting employed.
I did, until I saw the CCS role months later.
The Siftabiltiy and telephone interview wasn't really a hassle. What got to me was the process (especially the latter stages). For months I heard nothing-I applied in the first week of November- and then BAM! 'you need to send this and that and this and that and you have 3 days (I think) from receiving this email' BAM! Complete you online learning in 5 working days! BAM it takes 3 hours. Bearing in mind at the time I was working at another job that left me knackered at the end of the day. BAM!!!Book your classroom training. NOW!!! DO IT!!
All and all the process could have been more balanced. That's my only beef with them really. Once the job started it was all good.0 -

ditto. we have to do some online training too, and presumably will be graded on that mark to see if we get the job if there's surplus applicants  be quite mortifying to fail to get it after having been a collector0 -
I agree with that CCBCC, but to be honest I ended up sending the paperwork in after 2 weeks as i didn't have the time to send it in, took ages with the quiz thing but was flexible with whatever hours they would give me which might have helped me (but i don't know how they chose people.)
I do think it was a change for once for the job app to not say you needed to have done 1001 things before in previous job roles to do this one as the job market is getting to the part where unless you're jack of all trades it makes it very difficult to get any employment really no matter what you have done before.:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one:beer::beer::beer:

I should imagine it will be the first to ask for the role will get it for this as 5 days really isn't much of a turnaround.:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one:beer::beer::beer:

Last year i read 1 million people declined to fill in there census, and only 43 where prosecuted because they where stupid enough to give out there names. This year i've heard that 7 million have refused to date.
All i'd do is write on the envelope 'No Contract, Return To Sender'.
Of course the Census envelopes don't have return addresses on them, So they'll end up being shredded (as with all mail without a return address)
Why would you fill in 30+ Pages of your sensitive, Personal Information, So this information can be used for the government, They sell this information onto 3rd parties (Read up about the Lockheed Martin situation).
- It is only a statuary requirement to fill it in, A statue is a legislative rule of society, given the force of law, By consent of the government, I wouldn't consent. And its not a law its a rule of society, A law is common law. How do parliament attain there power to write a statue ? Through the consent of the people who vote them into power, I didn't vote for any governments so therefore that statue doesn't apply to myself.
The Office for National Statistics ONS website points out that the UK is an active participant in an EU Census Legislation Task Force. In 2008 the European Parliament approved a Council Census Regulation, The information gathered in the 2011 census will be shared across all 27 Member States of the EU.
Make your choice.' You only live once ! Don't live to regret the past, But to enjoy the future '

I think some people are going way over the top,The information you give them is nothing special.0 -

I agree. At the end of the day, like many people have said, the government have a lot of this data already (through the tax system, council tax, voting) but alot of people are missed off for whatever reason, people live in different places (that panorama programme last night highlights that). It will impact a lot of things like education, healthcare and other services as they need one source so they know how many people are reaching a certain age in certain areas as they may need help, if theres an area with a lot of young people then they may need training and support, if a business goes down then they need to support them people. Plus its needed for general statistics to help with planning for the future.
It seemed like a poliva but if it helps give a wider picture of what is needed for society to function in the future then it can only help really:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one:beer::beer::beer:

have you actually looked at a form? :rotfl:
there's 30+ pages to a form because it caters for 6 people and visitors. there's only 4 pages per person.0 -

Just a FYI but if you've been a collector you're not allowed to then go back to the same area for the CCS.0
