Census Jobs

Anyone else just get an email asking if you're interested in a role as a CCS Interviewer?
Yes me too, replied back straight away, be brilliant if I got it as I have nothing else lined up and really enjoyed the census work. It's in a different area to my collector area but it's closer to home so it would work out better.Times is 'ard.0 -
I applied for the CCS Interviewer role but got onto the reserve list, but they took ages to get in contact so i'm going travelling for a few weeks instead.
I got my first refusal today. Was pretty shocked to be honest, even more so when she came out with a piece of paper telling me to fill it in to make an appointment (which i would have happily done) only to be told before i did that she wouldn't fill it in regardless. Other than that one not had a bad reception at all really.
Been pretty ok and i've enjoyed it, but like someone else said I am glad its over soon as its been good but I don't think i could do door knocking for the rest of my life tbh. But all in all its been a nice little money earner and good weather along with the ok reception to say what it is and what it is asking and i've been pretty happy.:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one:beer::beer::beer:

My area isn't included but I would have traveled.
It's between £8.02 and 10.42 an hour.
It's not full time though the hours are :
09/05/11 – 22/05/11 25 hours
23/05/11 – 03/06/11 15 hours
04/06/11 – 10/06/11 0 Non-operational period for holiday allowance
Thanks for the info.
Given the fact that i'd have to drive a 40 miles return journey through some of the worst traffic in the country , allied to the part time hours and last week with no pay at all meaning i'd be better off signing back on , i'll give it a miss.0 -

It was an easy job to do if you got it but only an easy job to get if you applied at the right time (which I clearly did not with hindsight) and Capita hadn't yet filled their quota for your area.
Another forum member who got the same email as me from Capita about Siftability pressed them for his score and found it was very high indeed. Capita would not however reveal if he had not been interviewed due to lack of vacancies in the area in question or perhaps because despite his high total Siftability score he had answered one of their trip questions about corporate obedience and not rocking the boat (eg what would you do if one of your colleagues told you they were binning the questionnaires or fiddling the expenses and you said report it to the company rather than report it only to the manager as Capita wants) in a manner felt unsuitable in loyal and obedient foot soldiers.
Your comments to the effect that it was an easy job and you didn't get it because you are not up to the mark are clearly designed to hurt and wound. Small wonder then if when you do that people want to hurt you back. It looks to me like your hubbie must have had enough of playing punchbag to your lashing tongue in the end.
So you've gone from saying I should encourage people to kill themselves to my martial status now is it?
And ALL this because I pointed out WHY after all this palaver - for a job that you now see as _and I quote_ **Skivvying for the government*
Not hurtful or spiteful - unlike your post that said that to the other poster. The stuff about the suicide is really vile.
Answer the original question instead of going off on your high horse - WHY after all this fuss you have made do you now see it as skivvying for the government?
No references to me personally , or other peoples deaths or any silliness . Just answer the question. You can do that much can't you?0 -
I wouldn't of minded travelling if they helped with the cost.0

So here's to another few weeks of easy money with (hopefully) good weather thrown in for good measure. These Census gigs are really well timed because as of mid-June I start an 18 months contract in my usual capacity.
I'm wondering what the reception from interviewees will be like. Will they take kindly to being asked questions after the "harassment" they got from CCS collectors only a week before? Should be interesting.0 -

Surely the people you are asked to interview (who are meant to be a representative cross section of every household that was originally asked to complete a census return as I understand it) will in the main have completed their census returns on time unlike the obstreporous, imbecilic and uncooperative little so and sos you were chasing while wearing your Capita Collector peaked cap.
I must say the further news tonight from some of you that Capita is now offering Interviewer positions to former Collectors and not going back to those who applied directly for the Interviewere roles and were then supposedly held as first reserves clearly shows that Capita are deceitful and dishonest employers/outsourcers who have wasted the time of a large number of applicants under false pretences.:mad::mad::mad:0 -

No no you've got it wrong. I applied for this position back in February but weeks later I got the 'we regret to inform you...you scored high' etc and was put on the reserve list. But I wasn't too fussed because a) I was starting the CC role and b) I had the feeling they'd come back because of reason a) I suppose I've kind of made your point but, I did apply for the role.
Basically they have form when it comes to flip flopping so I thought 'we'll see'.
Or something. My head hurts!0 -

Many thanks for the clarification.
But the question then remains as to why Crapita couldn't organise things so that a smaller number of people got a decent and worthwhile three month or so long period of employment as a Special Enumerator, then Collector and then Interviewer instead of all the nonsense of advertising so many different job titles of such short duration.
Who in their right mind for instance would apply for the role of Interviewer alone given the tiny total number of hours of employment vs all the hassle of Siftability, telephone interview, online learning, classroom training and CRB checks before actually getting employed.0 -

I applied for collector and interviewer and had to do the same Siftability twice, which has been the most onerous part of the whole thing. I also had to do two telephone interviews, and you would have had to do two lots of online learning too because they were different. People who had been collectors were also present at my interviewer training, so they must have done both lots of training. So doing both didn't save any time really, except for filling in the CRB form, which wasn't a normal CRB form it was a dead quick online version.
The pay for the collector role is a bit higher, so if you have any kind of threshold for how much you're willing to accept for your time that might have tipped it over the edge. I turned down the collector job because I believed that I had another job lined up that would pay a little bit more. Didn't pan out, so accepted the interviewer job. I was more interested in the interviewer job because the pay is over £8, which is my threshold. (Note for anyone who thinks I go on the dole rather than accept minimum wage: I'm not on the dole, I have another job.)0
