When I called Census Recruitment all they could tell me was that "we have had a lot of similar calls and have escalated the problem".
Anybody else in the same boat or know how I could contact my coordinator?
I've not heard anything from my coordinator either. I too rang up Census Recruitment and got the same reply!
I really hope they're not just going to get in touch tomorrow and expect us to 'be there'. It's so irritating!
I don't think there's any way we can get in touch with our coordinator before they contact us. We'll just have to wait I guess!0 -

Have you actually been told you were unsuccessful? If not you may yet get a call the way it seems to be going.
Not heard anything yet myself either way.:(0 -

i can't recall reading about this early collector role - it was either special enumerator, or collector starting on 6 April *puzzled smiley* i wouldn't've minded starting today!0

Diff a big problem.. I'm a coordinator and I'm also supposed to have an early collector starting today ... the problem is I'm waiting for his/her details to come up on the system so I can contact her/him...I can't do anything until then... We're brought up the problem with our manager.... let's hope it will be sorted quickly...but as far as i'm concerned you should be paid from today as per your contract....
Ahhh....well that makes sense then I guess. I didn't realise it worked like that, I just assumed you got emailed with our details or something. In that case I'll just wait. I'm only doing 25 hours a week anyway, so even if I didn't get paid for any hours today I should be able to make it up later.
How big is your area? Do you only have one early collector?
When you arrange a meeting where do you hold them? something I've been wondering about since I first read the booklets! lol0 -

When I had the telephone interview they asked whether I could start on 21st March or 6th April. Early collectors, as far as I can gather, just help the coordinator, and go to help people fill in their questionnaires who have called the Census helpline for whatever reason. I think they also investigate properties where the Royal Mail couldn't deliver a census to. And if the building is actually there, give them a replacement, and if it's been demolished or changed to a shop or something then write it off.
Then from 6th April we join the main collectors and start knocking on doors.0 -
ah righto. all the early collector roles must've been filled for my area.0

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one still not to hear anything. I've sent them yet another email this morning.0

Who did you email? I've not been able to find an email address, and when I ring the Census recruitment line, I'm on hold for at least 5 minutes!
How is anyone meant to get work done when the coordinators can't even get in touch with us.
I havn't really had any problems with the Recruitment process (except the length of time it took...) until now. Feel sorry for the people answering the phones though, I bet they're getting loads of frustrated people calling up!0 -
