Do I need to actually tell someone I'm not doing it?

Don't see why. I'm not going to bother - although maybe I'll send an email saying
I am currently processing your census offer and
will be in a position to update you regarding the progress
of my application in the near future.
I have received lots of emails which I am processing as
quickly as possible but would like to apologise for any
delay in getting back to you due to the large volume
    involved.
I appreciate your patience and I will contact you as
soon as I am in a position to do so. Please check your
    email account for updates.

If you've been allocated to a coordinator, he/she will give you a call to confirm your start date...and you can then tell him/her that you don't want to carry on. I guess that's why so many are on the reserve list.....Capita has really dealt with this badly as lots of people will come into the job already resentful....
All i can say is dont' take it out of your coordinator as we went thru the same dealings few months back!!!:(

anyone still to do their classroom session be aware (if you aren't already) that the person running the course is not just teaching stuff but is sneakily assessing you.

i just heard someone at my classroom session has been declined. so it may all seem light hearted and a bit of a laugh, but it isn't (although that should really be blindingly obvious).

I'm only on the reserve list - if I actually had a confirmed job I would tell someone if I were to give it up.

I think people on the reserve list just stay on it until they are called and that may be never - speaking to CAPITA yesterday I asked them when they were sending out the regret letters and guess what they didn't know ! I feel sorry for the people manning the phones as it's clear that they don't actually know a great deal so obviously get a lot of hassle every day.

Can't believe how slow it all appears to be in England. I'm a Census Enumerator in Scotland have have delivered all 913 of my Census questionaires (I accepted 2 districts as they'd run out of reserves).

Hope everyone gets through it at some point!
  • I didn't even hit the reserve list for non compliance officer...

    Surname 'A', 34....

    Bummer!
Busy mother of two, juggling with my new job as Infant Feeding Support and keeping up with good household management!

I became debt free after losing my Mum :A ...I'd rather be poor again.
  • I've been issued a final offer contracted to start tomorrow as a collector, but still have not heard from my coordinator.

When I called Census Recruitment all they could tell me was that "we have had a lot of similar calls and have escalated the problem".

Anybody else in the same boat or know how I could contact my coordinator?

Amazing to hear that some people now have places on reserve list I have still heard nothing other than that I have not been ruled out and a few emails with the usual 'you will hear in 2 -3 weeks' nonsense, my interview was on November 16th and I have over 30 years local government experience, maybe I am too old - this is a total shambles and I will have no faith in the statistics produced from this census.
