Am I the only one that is finding this job diffficult? I've always worked with the public, I used to be a nurse so I am well used to dealing with difficult situations and talking to people, but most people who I am dealing are surprised and peeved to be asked pretty much the same questions (although not nearly as many) as they have just answered and when finding that 'this survey is matched with the census results and allows the ONS to estimate the number of people not counted yet' with various ways of saying this including the wording in the elearning, just seems to prompt people to assure me that they didn't miss anyone off and so they don't need to do this survey. Is anyone else having problems or is it only me? I must admit I'm about to give this up.

I have given up. I have had a door closed in my face once too often, been treated like a child by the team manager and listened to my partner moaning for the last time. I feel as if a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. What a shame, the collector job was great, a real pleasure to do and lovely to meet new people. You live and learn.

I'm sorry it's got too much for you srn. I'm so very lucky to be interviewing in an area where it's pretty much only houses and the response has been great. Another pair in my team is struggling in a really rough area and I'll be honest that I'm dreading the possibility that my manager might ask us to help us out. Not sure I'd have coped with more rejections than interviews.

Sorry to hear that SRN I'm nearly on the edge with it all. The team meeting on Monday was a joke with the majority of us having to redo our PLB's as we had not listed properties "outside" our postcode areas, for god sake. Refusals are still a big problem I can't see myself going back but the Team Manager seems insistent that we all get 100%

Can anyone tell me how much the completion payment os for 37 hours?

There are new payslips on the site now. I did a 37 hour contract and got a completion payment of £110, plus holiday pay of £195 approx. Add this to 16 hours pay for the last weekend and it was a very nice payday this week. Shame it's the last, but it has helped me buy a few major things.

Just got that memo.....stupid as most of our postcodes are separated by roads or the whole road is included. The maps are not ambiguous at all and tally perfectly with what Royal Mail say should be in there. Oh well, if they want to pay me to waste time then fine!

Thanks for the info. I got a bit more holiday pay than I thought I'd get :) It was quite a nice little job and the money wasn't too bad.

Getting really bored now. I don't have enough houses to keep me working for 25 hours a week, but I've still got to make the time up so I'm knocking on every door in my area about 3 times a day. Can't wait to drop down to 15 hours next week.
  • holiday pay is in this weeks payslip for me

Yep, holiday pay is up there for me, ready for tomorrow.:D

CCS emailed me earlier this week to say my services wouldn't be required, but reading some people's comments here, I don't really mind.

Hang in there folks, it's not for much longer. ;)

Wow! I've just viewed the latest payslip and it's much much more than I ever expected. Completion money was £200-I thought it was £110?! Anyway I am so glad I applied for this job because I was actually in (contract) employment at the time but decided to apply just in case I wasn't doing anything come April.

    Thank you, Census 2011.

Oh I didn't get the CCS gig either but I'm more than happy with my lot.
