I'm so sorry for you all. I hope the news isn't so bleak as you fear. xx

My daughter was born with a brain condition (where part of the brain protrudes through a hole in the skull). She's 14 and fine now. I hope if anything does turn up that it's fixable. I know the feeling. You feel as if the world has stopped. My prayers are with you all for tomorrow.

  • So sorry to hear about the baby. You must all be devastated.

I have two friends who both have children with a malformed cerebellum. One child has learning difficulties, deafness and balance problems. Otherwise, she is healthy.

The other child has autism and behaviour problems, but no learning disability. Again, otherwise he is healthy.

Both children have a good quality of life, with friends, a social life, and no pain. Both started life with a long hospital stay, but few admissions since then.

I do hope that everything works out for your family. www.cafamily.org .uk has excellent information about rare disorders. Carers UK are also extremely helpful in my experience.

    Take care xxx

Thinking of you all at this difficult time. Having just gone through similar it is an awfull time, I agree ARC are wonderfull organisation, and it can really help to talk through with them any problems and help with deciding whether or not to continue with the pregnancy.
And I agree the coment regarding being young, is something you shouldnt say, and in any case there was no mention of how old they are!
Unfortunetely for me it wasnt good news, and I had a termination for medical reasons, there are some very good boards, on baby centre antenatal scans etc.
I hope the amnio provides some good news. If you want to talk feel free to pm me, if its bad news, making the decision what to do is very, very hard, and also the process is hard too, but with love and support, they will get through it. Thinking of you all, and hoping for the best.
    Pawpurrs x ;)

  • God bless this young couple and hoping that if there is a decision to be made it turns out the right one.

Genetic counselling may be of use to them in the future, though I can see no-one will want to think too far into the future at the moment.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x
