Such awful news

Options
Hi, I hope you will forgive me if I unload on you a little, I'm really finding it hard to come to terms with today's news.

DS & his GF went for their 20 week scan today, excited and expecting to come away with news that the baby was fine, and whether it was a boy or a girl.

Instead they found out that the baby has a malformed cerebellum and physical deformities. Tomorrow they are having an amniocentesis to determine the scale of the problem, but from what we were told at the hospital we all have to prepare for the worst.

As you can imagine they are absolutely devastated, and as for me, I just can't stop crying.

Sorry, just needed to let that out.
Oh dear, here we go again.

Sorry ..not much more I can offer you than a bit of a group hug. Can't begin to imagine how low you must be feeling at the moment and even more so , your son and his GF. They are , at least, both young and can try again, but I don't for a moment think that's much consolation to you all at this time.

I am so sorry. A similar thing happened in my 1st pregnancy. This organisation is extremely helpful and supportive.

Refering to age and trying again is probably ranking in the top 5 of things not to say to a couple who may lose their baby one way or another. Especially as they may both carriers of a faulty gene.

I hope the amnio shows that what ever may be wrong with the baby is not hereditary.
