Your work laptop and a 200 page report? That's what is coming out with me to Bruges this weekend. :(

Still I'm in a sad way quite excited about going on eurostar for the first time.

LJ, you are such a dear chap...women must be queuing up to snuggle up to you.

Failing that, you are welcome to carry my bag for me sometime.

For anyone without sound - don't bother.

If you really have no sound and want to know what you are missing, you run your mouse over the strings and they change colour (you can see that without sound) and you get a strumming sound out of your speakers - exactly like Les Paul would have strummed apparently. Click on the keyboard so it turns red and you can use the keys on your keyboard. Pressing a whole row of keys in turn is equivalent to playing a scale. Clever bit of programming, second only to the pacman game they once did IMHO.

I really enjoyed Black Swan. There are some stellar performances in it. Natalie Portman is excellent, as is the character she plays. Mila Kunis also is phenomenal, & of course the 2 characters contrast brilliantly, in the same way as the white & black swans in the ballet.

I loved it. Went to the cinema for it, & it was great on the big screen.

yes, it was very well done in all respects, I agree. (but for me every film is better at home than in cinema). Some bits felt uncomfortable in there familiarity, which is the mark of a good film, but also an uncomfortable one. I did have to put my hands over my eyes at some points.

What are the essentials that people take with them on a 2/3/4 day break? Aside from toiletries, change of underwear, phone & charger, camera & charger, book & wallet, do I really need much else for a city break where I'm not exactly going to do much other than chill, wander about and stuff?

(have a feeling I've forgotten some really obvious stuff & am going to end up all :o when I read this thread in the morning...)
I've never been on a break, so I'm making this up, based on what I think I'd take:

    Toothbrush/toothpaste. Deodorant.
    1 pair of knicks/day + 1 spare pair.
    Lightweight plastic mac
1 pair of jeans (which I'd be wearing)
1 top for every 2 days
    1 cardigan type of thing.
    1 pair of fake crocs.
1 pair of socks (probably wouldn't need those)

Cigs, purse, small rucksack to contain the above.

    That'd be it I think.

Might slip the phone in, not really bothered - nobody calls me and I wouldn't want them to.
